Didnt notice there's no temp gauge when i assembled, and the warming/bun tray has short mounts, hard to open when it falls in when closed, so i just took it out.

It cooks. Not well, but it cooks.

BBQ is as basic as the come. 3 burners that turn on and cook stuff. Heat distribution and consistency is not at all even and is atrocious. Unit is one of the worst I've used for flare ups. Side trays are flimsy and not very strong. Legs are also wobbly and weak. Wheel shafts are bent and useless after having moved it about a dozen times in and out of the shed for storage. The silver metal warming rack (above main cooking surface) has deteriorated and is rusting out after 2 seasons of use. This is leaving chunks of rusted metal in my food. I'd love to replace it but Canadian Tire doesn't list this rack in their online replacement parts and the online PDF Manual doesn't load to check in there. If you get this on sale it might be a good deal but there are a variety of other units MUCH better for full retail price (currently $200.00). I bought mine for $130.00 if memory serves and it's debatable if it's worth that. The grill is big enough to cook 6-8 burgers and a dozen hotdogs. Better be ready to shuffle every single one on and off of the hot spots though.

Wow, another great trip to Canadian Tire. The wife decided we needed an outing and was talking about our not so good looking bbq. plus she wanted bbq chicken today. So what better than a trip to CT. We were going to buy some replacement grills and burners however, we determined it was cheaper buying this unit, go figure. They didn't have this $200 unit on display so we almost bought the $375 unit but we found a CT kid who said he check but it might be up on the super high shelves in the back. I said, is that bad? He said, I will have to call the guys in the back. Anyhow, 5 minutes later we paid, drove around to the loading bay and we were off. Definitely, have two people to build this thing or have some duct tape handy to hold things in place when you are getting the right bolts, screws and nuts. Took us 90 minutes to build, zero parts left over. Pay attention to each page, everything is nicely labeled. Pro tip. don't tighten up the bolts until everthing lined up and assembled, then go back and tighten everything up. Fired it up, cooked the chicken, happy day.

  • R : There is one other thing you can try if the other adjustments I suggested don't work and that's to swap the left burner tube with the right one. They are identical but sometimes swapping burner tubes can make the difference for proper ignition. I am assuming this is a brand new bbq and not a year or two old because if that's the case then you need to look for debris in the burner tubes. Its a favorite place for spiders to hide.

  • R : Thank you for your inquiry. No, do not use Lava Rocks or Charcoal with your gas grill. The Master Chef Prime 3 Burner uses a Heat Plates system instead of lava rocks/charcoal. These Heat Plates perform the same function as Lava Rocks, deflecting the flames from the burner and providing even heat distribution throughout the grill. The Heat Plates also produce the traditional grilled flavor as lava rocks do by incinerating all the food, marinade and sauce drippings. The addition of Lava Rocks/charcoal would change the function of your BBQ by reducing the evenness of the heat distribution and potentially cause problems with the burners. Hope this helps!

Q : can you put lava rock in it? there is nothing about it in the manual and just using the heating plates is not enough to cook well with knobs on max there are too many vents on this barbecue.
