bought this Garrison 12,000 BTU to replace my garrison 5000 BTU and it doesen't cool off my condo as well as the old one go figure almost 2 and a half times the btu and not as good and at almost 3 times the price ????????

Pulls in outside air

This AC works great for cooling my apartment. BUT, When it is running and there are odours, smoke, stenches outside, the AC pulls the odours in and blows it all through the apartment. I keep the exhaust vent closed at all times. When cleaning the AC I could see feel air blowing in from outside along with the stench/odours/smoke. What I found on further investigation is that there is an opening which allows outside air to enter behind the control panel shield and alongside the cooling grill. In turn the inside fan draws the outside air in the side of the cooling pipes and blows it back out along with the cooled air. So I am getting outside air mixed with the internal air.
This defeats the purpose of having the AC which is to keep the apartment cool and the outside air out so that pollen, odours, smoke, stenches don't enter my apartment.
At first I thought maybe there was a leak around the window so I double checked and resealed every crack and crevice with caulking and foam expanding insulation. But the outside odours/smoke/pollen still entered.
This apparently is a manufacturing defect which has not properly sealed the outside air from being drawn in by the internal fan.
I have another AC in the bedroom that does not have this problem.

Works really well. My only complaint is that it is loud. So if your putting it near a tv your gonna have to turn up the volume. Other than that i highly recommend it!

Q : Why is outside polluted air being drawn inside and mixing with the internal cool air? Stinky odors and pollution are being pulled inside and blow out with the cold recycled air, WHY? This defeats the purpose of the AC to keep outside polluted air OUT.
