Aspirateur robot Neato D3

GF and I have had the Neato (we named it "Moh") for a few weeks now. Before we bought this we'd spend a couple hours every weekend vacuuming up a small garbage bag (or two) of dog hair. We have small carpeted areas and laminate-wood flooring. Set up was a little finicky - not easily pairing to my phone at first. Second try it worked. Connecting to our google home was obnoxious and very unclear, and summoning Moh for a vacuum via google home is a guessing game for the proper key words (there's a button on the vacuum or you can use the app though). On the software side, some of the more expensive Neatos advertise remembering up to 2 floors at a time. This Neato only remembers one floor (and I think its the last one it vacuumed), so if you actually want digital no-go lines it'll only work on one floor. We don't care about no go lines at all. It also wants its dock on an open wall with nothing around it for a meter in either side, that wasn't an option for us but the small space under a cabinet we did give it worked fine. You may need to try out a couple different base-placements though. The systematic coverage is great, it can do a single floor of our small home on one battery generally within 40 minutes. The $1100 roomba has systematic coverage, its the way to go. Our home has apparently (according to the app) 36 m^2 of "accessible" area on both floors for people's own math. We haven't tried both floors in a row yet. It reports the coverage (via a map) and time to the app. Vacuum strength is pretty good, gets most dog hair off (maybe 85%) within a single pass whereas our dyson now requires repeated passes for the same carpet. Rarely gets stuck, but calls for help and idols when it does. It has gotten into some pretty tricky spots and can "buck" and push off / rotate its body off the ground a few cm to get out. Some cons: The laser navigation hub thing on top is great for not bashing into everything head on, however it doesn't seem to realize its a "D" shaped vacuum, so it regularly ends up using its bumpers (with buttons inside) to navigate when it clips its corners on objects. Hasn't damaged anything though. The laser hub on top also sticks out a bit, so we ended up carving up some foam to lift our couches a few cm off the floor - though granted these were areas we didn't really vacuum before hand anyways, and it really wasn't hard to make furniture lifts. I also wish this had a spinning brush on the right side (it circles rooms counter-clockwise) like more expensive vacuums, as Moh doesn't like to drag along the wall so some stuff gets missed. Overall I'm very glad to have it. For 50% off it was a no brainer. We lift our chairs and stools off the floor, get the vacuum going, go walk the dog and return to a clean floor. Cleaning the floor so regularly when we aren't around also means dog hair isn't carried around the house as much, alleviating stair vacuuming. You probably don't want to run it in your presence (unless you are excitedly watching) as it is a vacuum, it isn't silent.

I tested this device for Canadian Testers until it died, twice. The first time it failed after a few uses. I have to contact customer support and the send a replacement. So far OK, good customer support and I understand that from time to time, one unit can be wrong. Until the new unit failed again, with a few uses and after seven months. Unfortunately now is out of guaranty (as I don't have a proof of purchase, as I am a tester), and they will not replace it. Note that for Neato the warranty is from the original purchase, not the replacement - which I dislike - but is custom in many manufacturers. I would not recommend this product: - I own two older Neato models (XV-14) which are still working (but the battery is no Li-ion which I will always recommend) - D3 lacks the Side Brush - you honestly need this for cleaning (tested) - Expensive for what it offers - Bad warranty - and I think repairs will cost between 1/4 ~1/2 of the price or more

I own other makes (Xiaomi and Deebot R95) that have laser guidance. Though my other vacuums were purchased on line, I purchased this one at a Canadian Tire store. It was at a good price and better than competitors on-line. This one is a good quality vacuum that does an excellent job cleaning. It is comparable in performance to the XIAOMI but has some features that are better except the app . The R95 has all the feautures but after having gone through two R95's, my experience with those it that they were totally unreliable. Back to the Neato D5: Pros: -Excellent navigation -Excellent vacuuming power -Picks up where it leaves off it it runs out of power after recharging (my experience is that it can do about 1000 sq feet -Large dust bin (double the Xiaomi) -Wide brush at the front -Parts readily available -North American availability is good -App has a map function when the job completed or if it gets stuck (it will show you where). -Handles dark mats very well (other robots interpret the dark as a "cliff" and avoid going on it or if they do they trap themselves on the mat for the same reason. - Only gets stuck for good reason (wires and other good reasons such as socks and dog toys getting swallowed.) Other vacs (except the XIAOMI) can get stuck for no obvious reason and even by shadows cast through a window on a sunny day. Cons: The app could be better as there is no live map or at least a snap shot of what it has completed when you open it. You pretty well have to wait till the job is complete or it gets stuck. Overall I have been very pleased with this purchase.

The new Neato Robotic Vacuum with Li-On batteries is worth the money. It will help you to keep the house clean and you only need to empty the dirty bin.

The Neato D3 Robotic Vacuum far exceeded my expectations for a robotic vacuum! It does a superior job of a full house clean in a short period of time. The app makes it so convenient to start the vac anytime from anywhere, and the fact that it provides cleaning updates as it goes it fantastic. I have never had such clean floors as the Robo- vac makes it easy to keep up with quick tidy jobs or full on cleaning anytime!
