These things are great when the power goes out. I bought them for my whole family. The light comes on even when the power is out.

emergency light bulb

I bought eight bulbs one of them had a rattle in it so I took it back within 3 hours of buying it but they would not give me my money back even though it was defective out of the box they said it had to be a warrantied deal, I really didn't want another bulb because I really only wanted seven but the guy came up with eight and said Will you buy eight so I bought eight but I didn't need the 8th one and then it was rattling and then the manager came to talk to me and he talked to me like he was a bouncer in a bar going to kick me out of there and wouldn't give me my money back so I called the better Business bureau they contacted Canadian tire and Canadian tire said yes he should have his money back just give us his contact information so I told the better Business bureau that sounds good to me and they signed off on it and then Canadian tire never contacted me it's been over a month and they still haven't contacted me so The bulbs I have work good , Canadian tire

Fantastic product! This bulb is clearly designed with an on board continuity detector, and can determine whether power has gone out (by tripping the breaker to simulate an outage) or the switch has been turned off (wall switch, or lamp switch). So it will only provide emergency light when the power goes out (no change in continuity) as opposed to when the switch is opened (change in continuity). What a smart idea.

Disappointing

There is nothing advanced about this Noma Advanced product. When I turn on the light, this bulb comes on. Sweet. When I turn off the light, it goes out. Awesome. But after a while, it turns on. Or it emits short bursts of light for no apparent reason. Whatever sensor this bulb uses to sense if the circuit is closed (light switch is ON) does not work. The bulb randomly comes on, even when the circuit is not closed, until the battery runs out, and then it's dark when you actually need it. I don't know what the purpose of this item is.

Q : How does one adjust this bulb to stay on? When I simulate a power failure by pulling the plug for the lamp the light goes out! It is charged and works in the hanging hook

R : Mine does the same thing. It operates as a standard bulb when in a lamp socket. When power is removed, the bulb goes out. The only way to turn the bulb on during a power failure is to remove it and use the included hanging socket, which has a switch. Not quite the way I thought it should work!

R : Ok so I bought the bulb. Charged it. Put it in the ceiling light where I wanted it. It will not work like a regular bulb in the ceiling light. When I flip the switch to turn the ceiling light off it stays on??? The bulb that was in there previously didn't stay on. So I then tried it in a lamp. It works exactly like it should in a lamp. Why won't it work as a ceiling light???

R : This bulb will work as a regular household hold bulb. In case of a power failure, the bulb will remain lit for 5 hours. It will then need to be recharged in the socket and will take 18 hours to fully charge the battery for use again without power. You can recharge this bulb 300 times.
