Q : Is the width of the rack adjustable I saw a more expensive rack which stated as adjustable, so I assume this one does not have an adjustable width?

R : The unit should not be 51" and you should not require anchors. The mounting flange that the lag screws hold to the wall are on the inside of the tire rack (not the outside). This allows mounting to standard 16" on centre studs and is illustrated in the instructions. The rods can then be 49.5" and fit perfectly into the rack.

Q : Flat spots? Any chance of tire developing flat spots where tire meets the rods? will usually sit there one summer or one winter depending on which ones are stored. Thanks

R : Yes it will. Ruined a NEW set of Falken Ziex 18" rubber (fairly hard sidewall) on 18" BBS RC's (light rims). People who ride on marshmallow-type suspension may not notice the noise/sound/vibration, but if you are an enthusiast and your ride has hard/sport suspension, I DO NOT RECOMMEND using this type of storage rack. You will be better off using a product that holds the wheel using the wheel bolt holes (not the hub hole). After burning off 2/32" of the tires, they're usable, but I've now lost about 40% of the life of the tires by doing it.

Q : How can you fit 49.5' bar into 48' frame?? This is from another guy.. "Instructions are a bit off for width. I noticed that the bars wouldn't fit. Measured the bars to find out they were 49 1/2 inches long. Garage studs are 48 inches apart not 49 1/2 inches!!!!!! "

R : In response to CTCGuy98: I DO have the flanges on the inside, and 48" pilot holes for the lag bolts (as directed in the instructions) will NOT work. I recommend 'dry fitting' the rack on your garage floor and measuring the flange holes to determine correct pilot hole distance (>48" apart). You can then decide if there's enough wood to install on existing studs. I already had the pilot holes done so, with not enough wood left to correct, had to add structure to one side in order to safely install the second side. Make sense?

Q : 20" Toyota Venza Summer Tires I am wondering how safe this rack is with 20" Toyota Venza Summer tires and Rims that weigh in at 312 Pounds (Including Alloy Rims). My car sits below and am worried about it failing even attached to studs

R : With the shoddy bolts that ship with the product, I wouldn't dare. In theory it is rated for 375 pounds, but with a center of gravity 12" from the wall (in your case), the force vectors are more complicated than just a static weight amount. The product claims to ship with 1/4" but actually ships with 3/16" lag bolts; I'd buy a pack of 5/16"x3" lag bolts (assuming 2x4 studs). Make sure you drill your holes exactly in the middle of the studs.

Q : Up to what size tires will it accommodate? Will this rack accommodate 4 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 275/70R18 - Each tire is 55 lbs - (220 lbs) - it does say that load capacity: 275 lbs. ?

R : We currently have 2011 Camaro 20" Summer Tires on our rack. The fronts weigh 62Lbs each and the rears are 67Lbs each, so 258Lbs for the set. I have pulled on the rack and it is solid.

R : Depends on how much room you have above your door. For me I left 4" from the ceiling. With enough room to roll the tires onto the rack with my 29" tall tires, and some wiggle room, I have, from the ceiling, 35" below the tire's rubber and 32" to the bottom of the front crossbar from the ceiling. Hope that helps.

Q : Please provide precise dimensions of the assembled rack (height, width, length). Also please provide the separation of the anchor points - that is the vertical distance between screws and also the horizontal distance between screws. Does the rack come with the fasteners included?

R : Precise measurements may not be helpful to you. The overall width of mine is 52". The height of the unit is 28" x 28", but when you put 29" tires on it it becomes 32" tall. Then you need to think about rolling the tires on and off of it, so you really need to know that I mounted mine 4" down from the ceiling to give me enough room. I drilled my Lag holes 6" down from the ceiling.

R : Depends on the size and weight of your tires, but I would not rely on ply board only. Make sure that you screw through the boards and into the wall studs behind.
