Bought this to aid in pumping water in my backyard during snow melt. It works well but takes a couple tries to figure out the tether length for the float to trip.

More adjustable vs the pump's built in fixed float switch.

Bought this two weeks ago when I noticed my sump pump running frequently and with the attached float switch not shutting off before the pump was drawing air. The limited travel also did not allow maximum use of available sump space before triggering, thus more frequent and noisy operation.
The tethered float came with a simple adjustable mounting clamp. It took one or two cycles and a slight adjustment to get the right free length for the float to meet my required application. The 1/3 HP (water) submersible pump has been working well and quietly since; allowing more water to collect each cycle and not running so low as to cause pump cavitation.
