Rice recepient got scratches pretty quick. Would hope that we can buy only the recipient. Would be more ecological then buying the full product (which we got from an other brand)

Q : Turn off by itself? Hi, will this cooker turn off by itself after done or automatically switch to "warm" function.? I currently have a rice cooker, must pull the electrical cord off the outlet because it will be on warm up forever ( a fire hazard if UR not around)

Q : How long it takes to cook & what's best price How long it takes to cook rice in this, I purchased a cooker last time at Canadian Tire which takes 4-6hrs (I did not know that it was slow cooker).Also I read in one review someone paied 9$ for this...are there any deals like that now?

R : It depends on how much and what type of rice you are cooking. When I use 2 cups of brown rice it takes about 45 minutes before the "cook" light changes to "warm". It takes less time when I cooked rice on the stove top, but the results are much, much better with this machine.

Q : 1 mesure de riz = Je ne comprends absolument pas ce que c'est "Une mesure de riz" .... Est-ce que ça veut dire le petit bol à mesurer rempli au complet ou bien est-ce que c'est la première ligne (le ¼ je crois) qui est dans la petite tasse à mesurer ???

R : La mesure de riz est tout simplement le petit bol de plastique fourni avec . Vous remplissez jusqu'au bord = 1 mesure de riz

Q : Is anyone else confused and bothered by the fact that this '6-cup' rice cooker only has a 3-cup capacity?? Despite the box and cover of the instruction manual clearly identifying the unit as having a 6-cup capacity, once you read into the manual a bit it mentions, almost in passing, that it makes only 3 cups at a time! Caveat emptor!

R : I suspect it may be because it makes ~6 cups of cooked rice (starting out at 3 cups of raw material). Nevertheless I suspect if I expected to routinely cook 6 cups of rice I might buy a bigger unit...

Q : How do you cook one cup of rice without it boiling over? I cooked 1 measure cup of white long grain rice and the unit was boiling over. How are you to prevent this from happening? This was cooking the minimum amount of rice!

R : Thank you for your feedback regarding your Black+Decker rice cooker. I’m sorry to hear you’ve experienced some issues with your rice cooker, but I think I may have some suggestions that will help. If the rice cooker is boiling over we might suggest soaking your rice for about 15 minutes prior to steaming. This will help to remove some of the excess starch that could cause the rice cooker to boil over. You may also want to add a very small amount of oil or butter to the bottom of the cooking pot prior to adding your rice. R : I normally make sticky rice in a larger rice cooker so I have room to stir it around. This small cooker does not leave too much room once the rice swells up and is cooked. But you could cook sticky rice in it...
