What features should I look for when buying an outdoor clock?
Just like indoor clocks, you want a clock that has a large face and numbers that are visible whilst lounging outdoors. Outdoor wall clocks may include extras like temperature and humidity measurements that you may find useful to gauge whether you want to spend time in your yard. Since clocks are also decorative and are displayed to complement the look and feel of your home, you’ll want to consider material and style.
Are outdoor clocks weatherproof? Most outdoor clocks are analog and have a waterproof frame and battery cover to protect them from the elements. Very few models are digital because of their susceptibility to weather damage. It is worth considering getting a waterproof outdoor clock rather than using an indoor one.
How do outdoor clocks operate? Do they need batteries? Outdoor clocks commonly run on batteries. Most of the time, they use lithium-ion or zinc-carbon as they are best for cold weather. Alkaline batteries are common as well, but the clock may not work as accurately when it gets cold. Because of the elements, batteries won’t last as long as indoor clocks so they will require changing every couple of months to a year.
