Foolproof block heater tester.

I bought this tester to try it out because I live in a small apartment block and thought I would rather lend this to my neighbours than my multimeter because it’s so easy to use and get a correct reading.

Great essential product for anyone living in a cold climate region. Was looking for one for years and didnt realize Cdn Tire had it. Simple test to know if your block heater is working. Thanks Cdn Tire. You made complicated thing simple for me.

It’s handy, but…

It’s handy, but it’s pretty hard to plug in and unplug. They made it super tight. Very great tool to have that tells you if there’s continuity on both ends. Sometimes it’s hard to know if your block heater cord is good or not. You can use this device to wiggle the cord around to detect where the discontinuity is. Because of this device, I realized that both of our vehicles cords were bad at -40. Changed the plug end and they were good to go again. Takes a lot of the guessing out.

R : Yes, this product can be left plugged in at all times but I would take it off when not in use as it is relatively easy to remove and may make it an easy target for someone to take.

R : No it will only tell you if the block heater circuit (block heater and cord) are or are not working. Further diagnosis would be required to identify the exact problem with the block heater circuit. This product is used to tell you if the block heater is in deed working, not to identify why its not working.

R : I lost my instructions as well, but I’m pretty sure if only one side is red, the problem is on that side. So if it’s red on the vehicle side, it would be block heater/cord.
