R : My question was misinterpreted. Obviously the fuel is mostly butane. I was interesting in learning whether it contains some propane as well. This as is the case with many camping fuels, and the fact that a fuel is labelled as "butane" does not guarantee anything. The Benzomatic "butane" sold by Canadian Tire, for example, is in fact 20-30% propane (see the SDS). Since posting my question, I have found the SDS for the product. It is 56-68% n-butane, 28-38% isobutane (a butane isomer), and 1-2% propane.

R : The answer from Canadian tiger team is correct. It completely depends on what you were cooking and how much cook time those items need. It would be like asking how much electrical power do you need in your electric stove at home or how many briquettes do you need on your barbecue... That last example is even better because you will have to take things like weather and wind into the equation. Also, how many meals would you be cooking per day. Often when camping people cook only one or two meals a day. I can't say exactly what you would need, BUT IT WERE ME I would bring a minimum of the equivalent of one canister per person, and then a few extra. Apologies if there are any typos or disjointed sentences... The Canadian Tire app and the website are absolutely a disaster and torturous to use. When will I learn? I could not move the text box without it bouncing around which meant I couldn't see my typing most of the time.

R : Unfortunately, there isnt a specific stove model that works best with the Woods butane gas, as the Woods butane is made to be used in maximum efficiency with all certified portable gas stoves. Also each stove have a different BTU rate and gas consumption. Therefore it will depend on the preference of the customer. Normally a high BTU stove have a high gas consumption rate, and a low BTU stove have a low gas consumption rate. What we recommend is to always use a stove with certificates, such as ETL, CSA or etc, in a open and safe area.

Q : The instructions for a camp stove I am borrowing from a friend for an upcoming trip say that it requires "D.O.T. type 2p or 2q" cannisters. What the heck is that classification (the Internet is no help), and are these cannisters labeled with it?

R : DOT 2P or 2Q are specification markings mandated by the Code of Federal regulations in regards of transportation. DOT stands for Department Of Transportation, and 2P, 2Q symbolizes the different types of specifications the cans are complying. The specifications are about the size, wall-thickness, etc. Our cans complies with the 49 CFR 178.33 - Specification 2P; inner nonrefillable metal receptacles.
