I bought 3 shelving units to go against my garage wall. Excellent quality, sturdy, easy to assemble, great for all my work tools/equipment/gear etc. Great shelves. Bought on sale makes them even better

Good product overall for the price I got it for ($99 per shelf, bought 2 of them). Metal components are good material and easy to work with. Shelving is fine, strong but scratches easily (not an issue however, as the strength is good, which is key). Easy to assemble as well (can be done by 1 person, which I did - however, the item boxed up is INCREDIBLY heavy and you will need 2 people to move it).

Two versions of these shelves

Note that these are two versions of these shelves. I picked up six of them in store, and received four of one type and two of the other.
One type includes metal brackets to join the top and bottom halves. The other type does not. This is a bit confusing when you receive both. The manuals are slightly different as well.
For the one WITHOUT the metal joining brackets, you must place the middle shelf in between the top and bottom halves to join them together.
For the one WITH the metal joining brackets, you can put the middle shelf wherever you want. Including the middle, just don't use the joining bracket.

Q : My concern is are the wood shelves on this durable enough to hold 300 pounds of weight? I have a 29 gallon fish tank. With water, sand, decoration and the weight of the tank the total weight is around 300 pounds.

Q : I have the 72" high unit - which is two 36" units stacked with small plastic joiners. The unit bends at the join. I feel like there is something missing to give it some stability. Has anyone else faced this? Any good solutions?

R : @Mechanics Tools Manager - yes, the middle shelf and shelf support bars are intended to provide some extra stability (beyond the plastic joiner that is inserted inside the upgrights). However, there is about 1/8 clearance on all sides of that shelf, which allows for some lateral movement. So, I am now looking at aftermarket solutions to provide stability. Unfortunately, we are not using it next to a wall (close, but not flush), so we'll need other soluitions.

Q : The 48x24x72 unit is basically 2 x 36"" high units stacked to make 72" or alternatively 2 units 36" high stacked side by side. My question is can the units be stacked 3 high to make a tower unit totaling 48 x 24 x 96 if 2 units are purchased?

R : I personally would not go higher even with one section higher. First of all the shelves were engineered to only go so high for weight. Also the higher stack shelves could become more unstable and tip over more easily. I install and assemble shelves in commercial buildings and we also attach the shelves to walls as well to prevent them from tipping over but we never go beyond the manufactures recommendations for height to prevent injuries. Another thing to consider is the weight of the items (heaver items should be kept on the lower shelves and lighter ones on the upper ones. If you are using this in a building with sprinklers keep items below 18" for most sprinkler types.

R : No, but 70 gallons of water weighs about 580 lbs and the weight capacity according to the product specs is 900 lbs per shelf, so you should be ok from weight perspective.

R : the one I have is 24 inch plastic jointers are total JUNK JUNK JUNK ctc should be ashamed of there buyers for putting something like that on the market Only thing that saved me not returning it I had some angle iron that I could use in place of the plastic JUNK
