Stay away from sharp,use to be a good brand , now it's junk tv dead after two years and hardly used it.

I bought this tv at Canadian tire 14 months ago. Was great till it shut down and wouldnt come back on. I took it to a repair shop where it sits as we speak. I just talked with the repair guy and he said the backlighting is gone, so to fix this i will be spending around another 200 canadian. Not sure it is worth it only lasting 14 months. Will let you know how much the actual repair is next week.

Sharp describes the picture as "breathtaking" on its website, but without an android TV box attached it was disappointing to me. Adding a Shield 4K or a Fire Stick 4K results in a much better streaming picture along with a much stronger wi-fi connection.

I am very impressed with this TV. It has many features and supports a variety of apps. The sound and picture quality are fantastic with different setting options to change brightness, temperature, colour intensity, as well as sound quality. Setting up the internet on the TV is very easy; you can connect it to the internet through WIFI or ethernet. After connecting it to the internet, there are a few system upgrades that you will be asked to download but it doesn't take very long to download and install them - only requires a simple click of a button. Out of the box, the TV comes with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, A web Browser, and the Google Play Store installed on it. Through the Google Play Store, I was able to download a music app and a weather app. You can cast youtube videos from your mobile device to the one on TV or search for videos through the TV app separately. The TV also has a screen mirror option to mirror the screen from supported devices (I haven't figured out how to use it with an iPhone yet but I'm sure there's a way). Google Assist on the TV works great, with the mic installed on the TV's remote. I was able to use Google Assist for things like checking the weather and searching for videos on Youtube. The remote is very simple and does not have many buttons, but is good enough to use with the apps. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend this TV.

First off, the other reviewers giving it low ratings have no idea what they are talking about and maybe they should stick to Roku or something with Built-In Apps if they don't have the technical knowledge to install Apps via USB stick. You can install Amazon Prime video app through the APK file but it's not in the Google Play Store. Web browsing has never been standard on Android TVs but again, you can install Chrome or Firefox via APK. If you want all those features as standard, pay double the price. The Sharp is manufactured by Hisense ever since Sharp sold the NA region TV business to them in 2016. Hisense is known for making great budget TV sets that compete on features against brands double the price. Runs on Android 8.0.0 Oreo with August 2018 Security Patch. This 58" Sharp (Hisense) 4K HDR Android TV that was for 498 at C Tire with 30x bonus points on Thursday. I picked one up financed over 12 months and used some GC and points. I'm actually surprised no one posted that. $498 - $60 CTM back with 30x points. I already had $75 CTM that I applied towards it. My local store had 10 at the beginning of the day and ended the day with 3 left after I picked up mine at 8pm. The panel is OK. Amazing for a sub $500 TV. The Sharp detects as a Hisense HAT4KDTV in Google Play. In some research it seems to be a cross between this Roku 58 Hisense and the midrange Hisense H8F. No local dimming but Full array LED backlighting. Pretty bad viewing angles from the VA panel but I'm using mine in my bedroom wall mounted so it fits my application. Does HDR10 and Dolby Vision as well. Blacks are very good for the price and it's a solid upgrade from my older budget Samsung Plasma. Not too many bugs in the OS but sometimes switching on the fly picture and sound settings mess up the display. Runs Android Oreo August 18 Security Patch. Prime Video plays HDR10 and DV but I haven't found a way to calibrate those settings, only during normal video. Higher end H8F has Local dimming and I believe a better better contrast but it's also $200 more. With the 55" being $699 at most shops. Sure it doesn't have a lot of the fancy features but it's under $500! Hisense is really knocking it out of the park with these budget 4K displays. Just a note, I've read HDR doesn't work with game consoles. Don't have a PS4 Pro or XB1 to test. YouTube HDR doesn't work natively either but you'd be hard pressed to find HDR content other than tests on YouTube (Unless you only watch MKBHD or something). Amazon Prime HDR 4K Works perfectly. Netflix I don't have a 4K sub to test. WiFi AC is strong but also has a LAN connection just in case you need it. Sound is good for TV speakers, voices come out clear but lacking in bass (not surprisingly with TVs being so thin.) I have it connected to a 5.1 Dolby Digital setup and couldn't be happier for an easy bedroom setup.
