R : Fred, the Permatex Red and Blue RTV Gasket makers would be the proper products to use in this application. The clear silicone is a sealant and adhesive and not made for your application.

R : I have used it to reseal an under counter sink and it worked very well. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for a drop in above counter mount

Q : Is this safe to use for adhering mirrors to OSB, plywood, MDF, etc? Will it cause any damage to the backing of the mirror and/or spotting through? The opinions online are very confusing regarding mirror adhesives. If safe, what's the best way to apply?

R : Hello Nick, thank you for your question on Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Sealant. This product is formulated to meet OEM specifications for automotive and industrial applications. Its primary purpose is for weather-proofing and joint gap sealing. Meeting automotive OEM specifications requires resistance to greases & oils, extreme temperatures and thermal cycling. This silicone has not been tested for mounting mirrors to construction materials. Depending on the size and weight of the mirror, it could likely succeed. But unfortunately, we do not know if this formulation would cause adverse effects to the mirror. I am sorry we could not help you further. Thank you again for your question.

R : I have not had any skin contact experience with this sealant, I used it to seal the edges of a bathroom sink and the long neck/mouth of the tube does an amazing job to reach skinny edges. but the quality of the sealant is really hassle free.

The Permatex RTV Clear Silicone Adhesive/Sealant can be used to re-glue a fridge door seal or repair a plastic part as an example, but as we are not familiar with where the refrigerator crack is you wish to fix it is difficult to provide a concrete response. R : Hi Fred, we would not recommend the use of the Clear RTV Silicone in this application, it is not the proper solution for creating a gasket. You can safely use the Permatex Red Gasket Maker for this application. The clear silicone is a sealant and adhesive not a gasket maker

R : Hello, thank you for your question on Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant. This question is quite difficult to answer whithout actually seeing the break, how much surface area there is to work with and also where & how the lens needs to be reattached to the housing. Permatex Clear RTV Silicone should adhere to the substrates, but without knowing the gap fills, surface area and overall stress factors it's difficult to say how successful the repair will be. Silicone generally requires a larger surface area and a small gab for ideal adhesion. Permatex Black Polyurethane also generally requires a larger surface area but can handle a slightly larger gap. Permatex epoxies can be used for smaller surface areas. Thanks very much for your question.

R : Hello, this is our Permatex Clear Silicone General-purpose, clear RTV indoor/ outdoor sealant. It seals, bonds, repairs, mends and secures glass, metal, plastics, fabric, vinyl, weather stripping and vinyl tops. May be applied to horizontal or vertical surfaces. Waterproof and flexible. Temperature range -75°F to 400°F (-59°C to 204°C); resists water, weather and vibration. This clear silicone will more than likely maintain the bond between the glass bowls. However, it has not been formulated to provide a crystal clear bond. As well, we have not tested it for "slight yellowing" over long term weather/adverse exposure. If you require the bond to maintain visual clarity, this may not be the ideal silicone. If the bond clarity will not be visible, then it is possible that Permatex Clear Silicone may be an option. Also note, our Permatex Clear Silicone will maintain some flexibility in the bond. Thank you.
