Its fine- Id probably just recommend the charge 5

For the size and the price- its fine. I have a jbl charge 5 as-well and wanted something bigger, bassier and louder in general. I wasn't expecting it to be much louder but overall i noticed that it was more or less the same volume- the trebles made my charge 5 louder id say. In terms of sound- it was just ok, a lot of the time i preferred my charge 5 in terms of sound over the xtreme. I also noticed that the xtreme lacks a lot of the lowdown bass where my charge can very easily handle it. Yes the bass is better but i dont think its better enough for the size/ price difference. Maybe the xtreme 4 is better? Overall id say its a good speaker but for most people id recommend the charge over the xtreme

I have had this speaker for about 8 years!! Great use daily. I'm not real technical and it is as easy as one could make it be. Just attach to Bluetooth and play away.

Powerful sound; Personalization OK.

Powerful sound and portability-- these are the most important things. Only gave it 4 starts because the personalization is just OK- the colors weren't exact. The text is readable so I'm happy with my design regardless, but I expected a bit better print out of the background colors I had selected.

R : I ended up leaving the Iphone hooked up all night to the speaker, them I turned the power off and back on several times while it was blutoothed to my Iphone and then it didnt have any problem this morning downloading the update, maybe turning my phone and apeaker off then back on several times made the difference.

Q : Is this speaker stereo sound on it's own or does it need to be connected to another speaker for stereo sound?

R : This speaker as a stereo, each pair of woofer + tweeter play one channel of audio. If you connect with another Xtreme 3, you can play stereo sound, and each speaker turns mono.

R : Just avoid very hot hot tubs and soap, as heat and soapy water can damage the speaker. Soap decreases the viscosity of water, I killed a 100 meter water resistant watch by showering without and washing it with soapy water. Bubble bath, for example, should be avoided if possible and rinsed immediately if you drop it in there by accident.

Q : Would this be loud enough to play walk up songs at a little league baseball and softball game? I am avoiding getting the big JBL Boombox 2 and rather get this JBL Xtreme if this works.

R : Maybe if it was quiet enough or the children are under 10 and sensitive to loudspeakers. If they are 10 or older and it is windy or near a busy road you should get the Partybox 100, 110, Partybox 200, 300, 310, or the Boombox 2. The JBL On the Go Partybox may be a great option, as it is around the same price as the Xtreme 3 but it comes with a microphone, and is louder and bigger making it a convenient option as you have the ability to announce the names of teams or athletes with the microphone etc.

Q : Why does the bass only extend to 53hertz as opposed to 20?

R : Although turned to 60 hertz, this speaker can play down to 44 htz. The main drivers react down to 36 or 35 Hertz, but it isn't audible because the box is not tuned to such low frequency. Such a small speaker rarely can audibly play notes lower than 35 htz because the size of the speaker is too small to move enough air for your ears to hear, as your ears are less sensitive to lower frequencies and the power required increases exponentially. If it was capable of playing music so deep, it may have trouble with battery life, driver endurance, passive radiator endurance, and trouble playing higher bass notes from 50-90 htz. No speaker on the market gets 20 hertz at this small size. Speakers that claim such sensitivity are not actually reproducing the sound and a test at those frequencies can prove it. I do not work for JBL.
