pretty complicated but what do you expect with a 6 in 1 oven

I purchased this unit on sale, yah, as we were starting a kitchen renovation and I thought it would help during the time I didn't have a stove. Indeed it has sutpassed expectations. I do agree that the instruction manual is less than stellar, but what this machine can do if you're willing to try is outstanding. I have used the air fryer function a lot, as well as the convention option. The microwave is just perfect. I had to buy an over the range microwave for my new kitchen, and if I could have had all these options I would have paid extra in a heart beat. I don't know why all microwave ovens aren't this evolved. I will be giving it to my daughter when she goes off to college. what a great asset for a dorm room.

This device tries to be everything and doesn't succeed at very much. As a microwave, this works very well. The size is good, the controls reasonably obvious, and it cooks true to its 1,000 watt power level. It's a bit disappointing that the timer can only be set in specific time increments (which change to bigger increments for longer cook times). The defrost also beeps mid-cycle to remind you to turn the item, but it doesn't stop. You can even program 2 steps, such as defrosting for a certain period then microwaving at a certain power level for an additional period. But the other ways of cooking are not so great, especially the "air fryer". This microwave has a broiler element and a convection fan. They are operated by programs only. There are 10 air fryer programs, but no way to just air fry for 10 minutes. The programs themselves are not explained at all. They all cook about the same time (15-27 min) but are different in some way that is not described or explained. They're for cooking specific things (chicken wings, frozen fries, calamari, shrimp etc). Want to try air frying something NOT in the program list, like fresh cut yam fries or zucchini sticks? You're out of luck and guessing. There's a "grill" setting which is just broiling. But you have to put a special stand in the oven, and cook on a special tray that's much smaller than the microwave (just 10.5" in diameter). Unlike air frying, you can control convection cooking time and temperature, and you can pre-heat. You can even "combination cook", like mix a bit of microwaving with a bit of convectioning. And then there are 12 "auto programs" for cooking specific things like fish, pasta, cake, potatoes or a whole chicken. Again, there is limited info on what these programs entail. Some are just microwaving, some are a mix of microwave and convection. Finally, you can set it to cook at low temperatures – as low as 105°F – for a LONG time – up to 12 hours. This would be a better device if 1) the programs were explained, especially the air fryer ones; 2) you could actually control the air fryer by setting cook time and temperature; 3) if they hadn't tried to stuff EVERY feature into it, making it incredibly complicated to operate; 4) they offered some sample recipes in the terse and not particularly helpful manual. In short: it's a good microwave, a terrible air fryer, an OK (if small) convection oven, and a meh broiler. It sure can't replace an actual oven, nor compete with an actual air fryer.

The price was good and the whole purchasing process worked well. The unit itself works well, but the manual is terrible. There are omissions and contradictions in it.

Just bought, manual is terrible. Used product code to get more info and its a toshiba. Its manual is slightly better.
