REMOTE DOA! Good unit otherwise.

Got this little unit to supplement my aging central air, which is working but not like it did 30 years ago. If this unit holds up like it should, I'll be happy. Had a portable that quit cooling just after 2 seasons, and so this is to replace that. Cheap & effective. Somewhat problematic to install, not Noma's fault. It's a smaller window, so can't use the side slider, then had to fill in with some packing foam that seems to work well.
I got it to work, by adding a support board under so I could get the required 5° tilt for water drainage, it's working.
I REALLY like the dual timers. I can run this for a while, have it shut off, then turn back on later. Will be usefull when at work, or out and about. I have a small house, and this keeps the one floor I have cool, living room & kitchen,, and with fans the other 2 bedrooms and bathroom.
With my CT dollars, and 24 months same as cash, the unit cost $249/ $10/month for 2 years. good deal for keeping cool!
I don't bother keeping it at a certain temperature....the accuracy of the thermostat is not all that great, so the timers work great here, it's a small house so. A bit lound, nothing super bad, on low it could be ok in a bedroom.
I just hope it outlsasts that portable, and it takes up far less space than a portable. Just make sure you install it correctly.
Hope it lasts, but it does feel sort of cheap, like the wind direction levers, they do the job though.
So far so good, but it's only one day in. You're supposed to let it sit for 24 hours, but seems to me it didn't get jingled around, so I let it fly, lol... I didn't like the remote battery being dead...had to spend $13 on a new one!

Poor quality. We had to return it after just months. It did not cool well and seemed to be affected when it rained outside. I will never by a Noma air conditioner again.

Great for the first bit

I have now owned two of these air conditioners, one was used for one summer, the current one, well we are in August and the issues have already started. Both of them I have found work WONDERFUL at the start, then stop cooling like they did. Both also got a huge mold build up in the vents and the chamber that the air comes through. No matter how many times I cleaned the filter etc. both now have filled with mold(enough that it’s setting off the levels on our air purifier) and stopped cooling the way it did at the beginning. I wouldn’t recommend.

R : Bad idea, even if it does fit. The unit vents from the side, and if it's in a sleeve, it can't vent correctly. You need a sleeve air conditioner, which vents properly from the back.

R : yes, all you need to do is make sure you are able to screw the casing to the window wood frame at one side and bottom, bring the vertical window to the casing, use dark tape to secure, seal the gaps. This unit is very light and with four to five wood screws would make it firm enough. Make sure the outside casing installation in a 5 degree angle lower than the front so the condensation water can be drain.

R : Facing the A/C unit put a hand on each side of the lower panel. There are recessed finger pulls and you simply pull the louvered front section out and down at the same time. This exposes the filter which now can be easily removed and replaced.

R : Hi there! There is two settings on this machine. Economy mode and regular. Economy will periodically shut the fan off in cooling mode depending on the temperature you have it set to. We live in a hot place, so ours is running continuously. It is a good little machine for the price!

R : Hi there! Yes it is tricky… the flat side of the screen will be facing you, there is a rectangle black plastic frame on the back that should face up. If you look in the bottom of the machine when the door is open, there are 2 little white plastic brackets the filter rests in. You may have to wiggle a little to get it to sit flat to shut the door.

R : The bandaid button is the check filter reset button. It is a reminder to clean the air filter for more efficient operation. The LED light will illuminate after 250 hours of operation. To reset after cleaning filter, press the check filter button and the light will go off. The S button is the energy saver button. This function is available on cool, dry, auto modes. The fan will continue to run for 3 minutes after the compressor shuts off. The fan then cycles on for 2 minutes at 10 minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on and cooling starts.
