This thing is pretty lousy. Ive been using it for salting my driveway. Originally i bought it as a salt AND sand spreader (it is advertised as such in the manual) but sand will not work in it (even if you keep it dry like I do in my heated garage).
So i settled on just using it for spreading salt. I works.. a bit. Every single time you use it expect to fiddle with it until it works. I would say at least once per month a part will fail & need to be replaced.
The resin hopper material is fine. The motor is underpowered. Everything else (metal) is waaaay too light duty to survive. If you're handy perhaps you can adapt it but as sold its pretty much a piece of junk.

This is garbage

Bought this piece of junk at Canadian Tire. I realize that Canadian Tire didn't make this junk, but they should be ashamed to sell garbage like this. Claims to have an agitator, which is actually 2 screws you put through the shaft. I only wish I could give this junk a negative rating.

R : The spreader claims to be able to spread sand & suggests its better if its dry but I can tell you from a year + experience, it wont spread sand well, regardless of how it is stored. We store sand in sealed buckets in our garage - bone dry and warm! - and its still works horribly. The "aggitator" - and i put it in quotes because the motor is tiny and cannot turn the pins through sand if set up as an agitator - does nothing.

Q : Does Hopper have aggator to mix the salt or sand and is unit ATV mountable? this is for the tundra tested sand/salt spreader.

R : Short answer: Yes, its has an agitator. Long answer: it doesnt work. The unit comes with a motor and a spindle. You have to attach wire or pins through the spindle to make it work like an agitator. The problem is that the motor is so tiny that when you attach pins to make it work like an agitator, the motor bogs down. It may work through feed or feritlizer. It works ok through salt but salt doesnt really require an agitator. Through sand it will not work. The unit mounts well and easily to the back rack of an atv.

R : The control level in the back controls the flow of seed and must be adjusted to stop the flow. The on/off switch on this device only controls the actuator.
