SURPRISING WHEN 2 COATS DRY

It looks horrible when you first roll it on but after a second coat and it dries, it looks alot better. The brown background color came out. I gave it a 4 star because i have no idea how it will last.

Durable product

Product is great! Went on easily after mixing thoroughly with the help of an electric drill and paint mixer. Put on at least 2 coats. Took 2 gallons on a standard 4’x8’ concrete porch with 3 steps to it. (Sides covered as well) easily covered slight cosmetic cracks in porch as well to hide them. I also repaired some parge on the porch which was also concealed by this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 17 Questions

Q: Can this be applied over damaged stone carpet?

1 Answer
  • A: Good day. The Terrazzo should not be applied over an aggregate or rough surface. You would best to send a picture of the surface you would like to cover to info@daichcoatings.com

Q: Can this product cover pre-painted outdoor Plywood walls (sundeck surround)?

1 Answer
  • A: Thanks for your inquiry. Terrazzo can be applied on vertical surfaces. If the painted plywood is in sound condition and the paint is adhering well to the plywood, you can roll Terrazzo overtop without priming the surface. If the paint is glossy, best to scuff sand with a 120-150G sandpaper. If the existing coating is flat, no sanding needed. Note: 2 coats of Terrazzo will be required to cover the existing paint, therefore, calculate a gallon for every 30sqft of surface area. Terrazzo is meant to be applied heavier than paint and spread evenly with a 10mm (3/8") lint free or microfiber roller. Enjoy your project!

Q: What type of caulking do you recommend to fill cracks before coating?

1 Answer
  • A: Any acrylic latex caulk would work, just no silicone based as adhesion would be an issue with the water-based Terrazzo.

Q: Our step has been previously painted. What prep do I need to do before applying this product

1 Answer
  • A: Terrazzo is self priming on bare concrete. It should also stick to an existing coating in a small area as long as the existing coating is in sound condition and not peeling. Best to scrape loose paint, scuff sand (if glossy), clean the surface, and apply generously. Terrazzo is a thicker coating meant to be applied at 60sqft/gallon. Spreading too thin will leave it less opaque. For pedestrian traffic, your customer should be fine.

Q: Can this be applied over stucco on the side of the house

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Clint, Terrazzo can be applied to vertical surfaces like concrete stair risers or a foundation wall between the ground and brick or siding. However, it wouldn't be ideal for an entire side of a house as it only covers 30sqft/gallon for two coats. We would recommend another product under the Daich Coatings brand, either TracSafe ColourCoat or RollerRock which would both be easier to apply on a larger vertical surface and would have a much higher spread rate.

Q: Is it slippery with winter boots on?

1 Answer
  • A: Thanks for your inquiry. Terrazzo is not a slippery coating, however, it does need to be topcoated with sealer to protect it from staining and dirt pick-up. For added traction, we would recommend sealing with TracSafe Anti-Slip Sealer. Stir well. Roll two coats of the TracSafe for added protection and slip resistance.

Q: Can you use this on dirt basement floor

1 Answer
  • A: Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we would not recommend Terrazzo on a dirt floor. It should be used to coat a stable foundation like concrete, pavers, tile or plywood.

  • A: Merci pour votre question. Une fois scellée avec deux couches de scellant, la surface sera protégée contre les taches et imperméable.
