Cons and pros by an electrical engineer.

This unit at its lowest setting is quiet enough for me to sleep beside... though I am 67 and used to road noise. The airflow is very minimal and the unit must be close and can be oriented to blow very gently on a single person.
It provises no indication of how effective it is at removing -any- undesirable air pollutant.
There is no guarantee that any of its two non-cleanable filters will be available indefinitely at any cost. At the current cdn tire filter cost and the units replacement schedule, I will spend more then the unit's purchase price within two years.
The unit noticeably consumes power, even when inactive, and emits a noticeable chemical smell when turned on... both 'minor details' at odds with its environmental aspirations.

Good device with a caveat

The machine works as described and is easy to assemble. In almost constant use for at least a month in a small room with plenty of things to purify. What is astonishing is how hard it is to find the replacement filters. Although I don’t need them yet, I wanted to have them for the inevitable need at an inconvenient time. Online searches were not helpful, although I have yet to check the manufacturer’s site. I returned in person to the purchase location. The two types of filters this device require cost almost as much as the unit itself.

A: I bought this for a gift and I know it requires two different filters. If you search honeywells filters, it will tell you which filters you need or look in store as marked.

The HEPA filter will catch any of the dust that is kicked up, and the carbon pre-filter will help eliminate some of the odor that is in the air passing through the filter, but it will not mask the scent or get rid of the source of the odor.
