Clicking noise

Very good price on sale but had to return it because it made a constant clicking noise and I wanted it in the bedroom for sleeping. Did not know that Canadian Tire does not give a refund on ANY open box item. Even if you only plug the item in to test it and put it back in original packaging.

Q: Why does the unit need to plugged in before removing the filter? Is it for resetting the filter timer, unlocking the filter latch, or some other purpose?

A: There is nothing in the manual about having the unit plugged in before removing the filter. In fact, the instructions indicate otherwise. Unplug it, remove and clean the filter, plug the unit back in, press the reset button, and power back up again. I actually press the reset with the unit turned on, and it works. "After the ... [filters] have been cleaned/replaced and re-installed in the unit, plug the unit into the power outlet and with the unit still in POWER OFF mode press and hold the CHECK FILTERS RESET button ..."

Q: Just purchased my second HFD015C Air Purifier. Did NOT have this issue the first one but this one is OFF-GASSING like crazy. How can I hurry this up so I can use it in my bedroom? For now I've stuck it away in a closet. I don't want to return it.

A: I did not have this problem /situation with mine - personally even though its a pain to do so (ie you have to wait until it can be returned after May 20) I would return it OR use it turn it on somewhere in your home that it can off gas and then start using in bedroom - does the booklet say anthing about this problem - as said we had not problem with ours - peggy

Q: I would like to record the serial number of the Honeywell HFD015C QuietClean Compact Air Purifier with Permanent Filter that I just purchased but can't find it. Where is the serial number located, please?

A: For anyone else trying to locate the serial number of this unit. After posting that question I discovered the following (in addition to the nice reply from HelenofTroy.com): There is no serial number for this unit. In order to register it, HelenofTroy.com will need a copy of your receipt and the date code. To locate the date code on your product, look at the metal prongs on the plug of your unit. On one of the prongs there will be a 4 or 5 digit number stamped into the metal side. This number is your date code. Send HelenofTroy an email with the info I've mentioned. Easy peasy :)

To reset the filter indicator light after cleaning the filter, press and hold the filter reset button until the indicator light turns off.
