Great alternative to an expensive rink!

I purchased this about 6 weeks ago and am extremely happy with the results! It was very simple and easy to use once I had the area cleared of snow. I ended up buying 2 10' x 20' bags. I froze the first one, then filled the second one as close as possible to the first. The ice needed a bit of chipping/flooding in some areas, but that was quite simple to fix within a day or two. The tougher part was filling the very small gap between the two, but after adding layers of slush/floods over a few nights, I had a perfectly flat 20' x 20' section for our kids to skate on! The kiddos absolutely love it!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Holes and rips

I bought 3 to make an outdoor skating pad for my kids. The first one worked perfect this is where the problems begin. The second one had a hole in the bottom and all the water just went out the bottom. The third one had a large rip in it. At least one worked but very disappointed with the quality

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: I’m hoping to use two of these, laid side by side as some reviewers have made mention.  What is the best way to fill the crack between the two to make it even etc ?  Thanks

  • A: The best thing to do is to build up the edges first (so no water can leak out the edges, or out the low side) and create a slush mixture and fill/trowel it into the gap. I did this over the course of a few cold nights. I scraped off any areas where it was uneven, then after about 2 nights of floods, you can barely tell there is a seam between the two slabs.

Q: Can we use this in spring and can it become ice 10 degrees and under

1 Answer
  • A: Unfortunately not. Once the temperature rises above 0 and it melts it can't be used anymore.

Q: How thick is it once frozen? In other words how high is it?

1 Answer
  • A: The recommended thickness of the ice when frozen is between 2 and 3 inches. Regular overspraying of the ice surface after installation may increase the height slightly.

Q: If the ice freezes and you peel back the plastic and the next day the ice melts. Is it garbage after that!??

A: The rink kit is for a one-time use. That is why we recommend building the rink when the weather will remain below freezing for an extended period of time. Although the weather is unpredictable, waiting until winter season is well established will give you a better result.
