    Too weak of signal

I purchased to install on a regular cab Ford F150. After ensuring I fully charged the unit installing was simple. However it could not communicate between the display and camera. I removed the camera and placed in on top of the end gate, the display would be intermittent. It needed to be in unobstructed sight and less that 10' between display and camera. I returned it with no issue.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought the camera in July 2020, it broke in January 2021, invoked standard warranty, got replaced product. The replaced camera broke 10 months later. Original warranty expired and I am out of my money paid for the purchase. Don't trust this manufacturer.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Technically works, but doesn't fit over BC plates

As far as I can tell, this product works just fine. The camera works well enough as well as the monitor with motion activation. Installation is also very easy. However, I couldn't manage to mount it in a way that actually framed the licence plate without blocking out the bottom of the plate, where it obscured the insurance/registration stickers. I also tried to mount it lower down, so it would only cover the top part of the license plate without obscuring the numbers, but then it floated awkwardly and tilted up so that the guide lines weren't at all accurate. There appears to be no way to mount this on a BC plate without obscuring part of it and leaving an unsightly gap on the other side. This might not concern you if you have enough room to mount it lower down on the plate, but at best it looks pretty janky when installed, and at worst it's totally illegal. As far as I'm concerned, this product should not be stocked in stores in BC, or any province with licence plates of similar dimensions.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 10 of 10 Questions

Q: How long can the camera operate continuously (both plugged into USB and not plugged in/using solar)? Just bought the flex-mount one and despite all the mounting options it still doesn't work to attach to inside of trailer rear window. This might work!

    • A: The solar power is always charging the camera. it hasn't run out yet on a cloudy day. you can get the display to run for upto 90s. The camera is a bit too wide angle if you want to see who's driving behind you.

Q: Earlier it was said it does not need to be hard wired to the reverse light yet the box shows that it should be wired and also comes with a wiring kit. The sales rep at the was pretty adamant that it needed to be wired. So which is it ?

A: Hello, this is a wireless camera system. There is no hardwiring to reverse tail lights required, nor is this even possible with this kit.

A: Hello, Because the camera is not wired to your reverse light, the only way to turn on the camera is through activating the motion detection sensor on the monitor.

    • A: Hello, thanks for reaching out. This is a wireless camera. You do not need to hardwire into your tail lights. After you charge the camera overnight and test the connection with the monitor, simply install as you would any license plate frame.

Q: The flyer says this is a wireless camera but the above listing shows as wired. Which is right?

    1 Answer
    • Horizon Brands

A: Hello, Thanks for reaching out. It seems like the description on the CTC site is wrong. This product is wireless. The camera is built into a license plate frame, which mounts to your vehicle with screws, just like any other license plate frame. The only portion of this product that is wired, is the 4.3" monitor which uses a 12V cigarette lighter adapter (CLA) power supply.
