Q: Are these gas cans made from conductive plastic to prevent static build up?

2 Answers
  • A: Static electricity can be a potential hazard for fuel containers of any size and type. Consequently, all fuel containers, large and small, include instructions/precautions regarding use. Those instructions or warnings, among many other things, advise users to ensure that the fuel container is placed on the ground, not in a vehicle, while being filled. If you wish to discuss further please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-387-6018.

Q: Referencing the 20L gas container, product #28-352-4 Does this container use a totally free-flowing spout or does the spout also incorporate the air vent? If the former, I assume there is a separate vent on the opposite side of the container. Would this be correct?

  • A: The spout and the air vent are one.

Q: Is the vent cap supposed to tighten? My wife just brought this home and the vent cap just turns through without stopping.

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Daniel - The Scepter vent caps now have a child resistant feature which requires the operator to push and turn clockwise to close and push and turn counterclockwise to open, this will require several turns in both cases. There is a nipple on the underside of the vent cap that will engage with the vent hole on the fuel can, like a pharmaceutical bottle it may not tighten but as long as the nipple is engaged and several turns are made it should be sealed. Should you have any further questions please email our Customer Service Team at customerservice@scepter.ca Thank you

Q: When storing full, how do you vent it from over expansion? I understand about using the vent on the top to make pouring easier, but nothing on storage.

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your interest in Scepter products. Expansion and Inversion sometimes happens due to pressure build-up or vacuum inside the fuel can. As some regulations state that fuel cans are to be made without a seperate vent opening, we have eliminated the vent hole in favour of a self-venting fuel spout. This means that the fuel can will need to be slowly and regularly vented to release the pressure or to allow air inside during short term shortage and prior to each use of the fuel can. The can itself is made of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) and has been tested to withstand the pressure build-up and return to its original form. If extensive expansion or inversion of the can has occurred without proper/regular venting being performed, the can may not return to it's exact shape. Q: Why is spout not pictured as instructed? Why does the product display picture show the yellow spout upside down? The instruction sticker on the gas can instructs the user to have the smaller diameter ventilation tube facing up when pouring from the can.

1 Answer
  • A: When not in use the spout will be inside to save some space and not to loose it.
