Very expensive trailer ball for what happened

a year ago

Hand threaded the nut on the ball shaft, tighten with wrench. Hooked up a 150 lb trailer and towed it 8 km. Tried to remove nut and it would come off. Used a 24 in. 1/2 in drive extension bar and it loosened about one full turn with a great deal of resistance. Put a 5 ft pipe over 24 in bar and it would not loosen any further. Had to cut the nut off with cutting wheel hence a $57.00 ball is junk. It did not go on cross threaded because I put it on by hand before tightening 1/4 turn.

Incomplete specs on packaging. Beware.

This one had the correct diameter of shaft. My first purchase didn't. The diameter of the shaft is not on the packaging or the web site listing. It's easy to assume that there is a single standard shaft diameter, but don't be fooled. Get out your measuring tape and measure the hole on your hitch. Then bring your tape measure with you.
