Compression Shut off Valve 1/2 in water line to 3/8 in PEX plastic Line

This Shutoff Valve is well designed for it's purpose. I can definitely recommend a compression valve over a valve that required crimping and the compression valve will seal better and last long against leaks. The metal tubular insert fits into the plastic PEX line which makes the PEX line solid for the larger compression nut to be tightened over the "Olive" ring which should also have a few good wraps of Teflon tape on the Olive ring. That all provides a good seal. On the smaller end the nut comes off, so I could use the nut on the end of the water line (hot or cold) of the faucet to tighten the nut directly onto the valve 3/8 in threads. You can use Teflon tape on the threads, but even better to buy a small contain of what is called "Dope" (a thicker liquid with a brush on the lid) which is designed for sealing threads for plumbing. The Shut off valve handle is a good size and is easy to turn all the way clockwise till snug to shut off the water to the line. Then easy to open again. This one is not inline when the water is on or 90 degree perpendicular when the water is off, though that doesn't really mater. There are valves just like this also but with a 90 degree angle if that is required, but I would go for the straight valve when an angle valve is not required. I put a valve on my hot line and cold line a few weeks ago when I installed a new Moen single handle Brushed Nickel faucet in my bathroom sink. I can highly recommend that also and wrote a review on that too.
