First off, I have a built-in wood fireplace with a clay-lined flue inside a brick chimney that's 25' high. We use this for 6-8 hours/day every day in the winter months to help heat 1/2 the house (not as efficient as an open wood stove). I hire a chimney sweep every year for about $200 and THEN I'll burn one of these monthly while I'm burning seasoned oak and ash. The key is to burn these creosote busters after the chimney is warm from the fire. NEVER burn these creosote busters on their own.
I gave it 4 stars simply because they are maintenance only and peace of mind but they don't replace a chimney sweep.

A: I buy these for my brother, he used them right away and has had no problems. 5his year I bought him the powder and he said that works very well, highly recommend!
