Powerful cooling, dependable unit...
I've had this unit for 5 years. I got it from a local CTC store on sale for $399. I thought it had a built-in removable water tank like many other units, but it does not. I came home last night after a long motorcycle ride and found the unit had stopped, and the display was showing error code E5. The PDF manual is not searchable; I had to manually scroll through all 30+ pages, but found no instance of "tank". I did see an upper and lower push-in rubber drain plug, so I removed them. A small amount of water drained from each, maybe a cup in total. This machine is supposed to evaporate accumulated water and send it outside through the discharge. Maybe that is why such a small volume of water caused it to stop. Anyway, satisfied that I had drained all accessible water, I plugged it in. NO error code!! I pressed the power button, and it has been running normally for the past hour. It's 30°C again today and very muggy as well. If I see E5 again, I'll know what to do.
(( It was 30°C yesterday and 27°C when I got home last night, expect similar today...we'll see. ))

Excessive Noise

I purchased this NOMA air conditioner. It kicks into gear with excessive noise and banging. I don't know what to do. So disappointed

Stopped cooling, no warranty despite barely being used
3 years ago
The compressor stopped cooling after roughly 30 overnight uses. We don't need it often where we live, so unfortunately it failed during our second summer of ownership outside of warranty. Expensive pile of junk now, unrepairable by anyone locally. Incredible waste of money. Will not buy another Noma AC product.

I Am Living Comfortable In the Heat
Purchased this unit in May 2021 (now going onto 3 months of steady daily use).
My old AC was 10,000 BTU, and I found it was a little too powerful for a bedroom in an apartment. So when it broke down, I purchased this unit with only 9,000 BTUs. It ended up being the perfect fit!
This unit doesn't BLAST cold air (although the air is cold), it conditions it. Within minutes, the air is at the temperature I want. Some days I want it at 18c - other days I prefer nothing over 24c (depends on the Ontario humidity levels).
I love how the unit is 'smart' (and saves hydro) by cycling its fan as it reaches the temperature I have it set at. If it can cool down below that temperature with just the fan it will, and shuts off. If it cannot, the AC kicks in and quickly gets the temperature back down to where I have it set for.
The unit noise is not overbearing, but you can hear it. This is something I have come to ignore, and don't notice much anymore.
The remote control is weird. The symbols matching the function are below the button (not on top like the average remote). You can make mistakes too easily, and find yourself spending a few minutes undoing and resetting things the way like them.
I love the IFEEL feature. Basically, the feature tells the unit what temperature "you feel" from the area you are in - not where the air conditioner is sitting. The air conditioner then compromises the setting you have it at. Nice feature!
Another plus is, shutting off the lights on the unit (dimmer). Perfect for bedrooms!
Do yourself a favour and make no room for disappointments. If the area you are trying to cool is bigger than an average apartment bedroom, then purchase a unit (at least) with 10,000 BTUs or higher. Maybe even 12,000 BTUs to easily manage a living room, kitchen, hallway with a bathroom. Otherwise, the unit will work hard, cost heavily in hydro and the result will not be satisfactory (and some, will then write bad reviews of this product).
I hope this review assists you in your safari of purchasing. Cheers!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is it self evaporating? If not how often do I drain it?
I have another portable air conditioner and it is self evaporating, meaning I don't have to drain it ever. I am just wondering if this is the same?

A: so glad to hear that this is self evaporating! I needed a second air-conditioner and I bought a different model last year and I had no idea having to empty it was an issue! It accumulated water so fast I couldn't keep up. Waste of money. I love my Noma evaporate have air conditioner! PS: The hose is to exit the hot air, and moisture.

Merci !
Q: My Noma AC keeps turning off (the machine doesn’t turn off, but it stops pumping air) and it’s super annoying when it’s super hot outside and it just stops pumping air. Why does it do this

Q: We have this unit installed in our barn loft. We also have a woodstove. Our barn is so air tight, the woodstove is not on (obviously) but we can smell the burnt wood. We tried cracking open a window but it didn't seem to change much. Any suggestions?

A: Yes I realize that there is no wood in the NOMA PAC. Why I was asking was about the system requiring fresh air as it seems to be pulling air from the wood stove through the pipe which would cause the wood burning smell. When we first opened the window near the unit, it did not seem to work but we have since opened a window on the first floor and that seems to have fixed the problem.

Q: Without a water container how do you get rid of collected water in a NOMA 9,000 BTU portable 3 in 1 AC? Especially in a second floor apartment with hardwood floors when the temp exceeds 30C?

A: I can't explain the exact mechanics of it, but what I read last year suggested that the moisture is exited out the window. I have another noma and I never had to empty it. I didn't realize there were different types of air conditioners and I bought A different make of AC last year which put out so much with water it was ridiculous to try and keep up with it. A terrible waste of several hundred dollars! I'm glad to find this Noma listed. If you look up "fully evaporative air conditioners" online you should find a better exclamation

Q: Having issues with casement window install.
The manual suggest that you install the slider kit vertically for casement windows but provides no other direction on this implementation. I'm baking, please help.

A: Unfortunately, I've always had casement windows when I've tried to use an air conditioner. That's why I ended up with the portable models rather than a window one. Also unfortunately, any other air conditioner I've had did not have appropriate parts and I had to jerry-rig the entire thing. Even if you can get it in the opening Of the window, you still have to be able to close off the sides. It's a real pain and anything I've ever done looks like a real mess. I've tended to use plastic corrugated sign board… And a lot of duct tape. I'm about to purchase this air-conditioner and I'm expecting to go through the same nonsense.
Considering that casement windows have become more and more popular, you would think the industry would have a reasonably easy set up for all air-conditioners.

Q: Can this be used with an extended vent hose (20')?
2 Answers
A: I've tried to use this with a different hose nly slightly longer than the hose provided, and ran into problems. In my case it's because I've got a casement window… The manufacturers really have to get on board with figuring out how to make installation easier (the accompanying hose is generally not long enough to reach an eye level casement window, Which are becoming more and more common in homes).
