Does not last long.

Bought March 23 2023. Worked great for 2 years. Now for 2 months even though it runs, it no longer collects water at all and blows cold air when it is on. Have cleaned everything, but still no longer collects water. Unfortunately, since it is now April 22 2025 it has surpassed the 2 year warranty period and I am now stuck with something that does not work or will have to pay to have someone look at it. So disappointed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This thing sucks, but in a good way

Living in a basement unit in St John's. It's pretty darn humid. On the first day this thing sucked so much moisture out of the air that the water container was almost full after just 3 hours of running. My only complaint about it, I'm not sure if my seperate little humidity meter is slightly off or if the built in dehumidifier meter is off. Since my meter is reading 40% humidity but the dehumidifier is reading 50% humidity. Regardless of the accuracy it was still a very solid drop from the 70-90% humidity I was originally dealing with. And one last complaint it can be alittle loud. It's not the fan making all the noise, but that compressor. It sounds like an old freezer that won't stop humming.

Q: Is this unit loud ? Like if this was running in your basement, and watching tv or doing work.

  • A: It is not super loud, in the basement, when upstairs we barely hear it running.

Q: Does it turn back on automatically after a power outage?

  • A: Yes, I have had a number of power outages since getting my 42 Pint Dehumidifier and it has always come back on automatically.

Q: Does the fan automatically turn off once enough humidity is removed? I had an older digital dehumidifier. The fan kept running and running all the time, even when air was dry, there was constant noise, so I had to manually turn it on or off when needed.

  • A: Mine seems to be running periodically even though humidity is way below set level. I suspect it’s only the fan and not the actual compressor but still. No explanation in manual regarding this.

Q: would this be suitable for a garage ?

2 Answers
  • A: It probably would work if the garage was insulated, I have it in my basement laundry room and running into my floor drain now. I did have it filling the bin first but I was emptying every day and it’s a pain to empty into a laundry tub. I really do like it and it works great.

Q: My dehumidifier has E9 sign and stop working. What can I do?

2 Answers
  • A: Mine was just over a year old when I got the same E9 so no longer under warranty. That means it is your humidity sensor. I called Noma and they gave me a number to call to get a new one. The guy was so rude.........he said the replacement sensors did not work so unit is no good now......I said so I am to throw it in the garbage and he said "yes". I told him I would never buy anything with NOMA on it again,

Q: Is there an easy way to put the bucket back into the dehumidifier? I find it doesn't line up perfectly and I have to give it a little knock to get it in all the way.

2 Answers
  • A: A little knock is perfectly the correct way to replace the bucket into the dehumidifier. By doing so it sets the bucket in place correctly to start receiving the water collected.

Q: Is the 45 dB sound level measured at high speed or low speed? Are the fan and compressor in the 42 pint model the same as the 35 pint? The moisture removal rate (0.99 l/h), air flow rate (176 ft³/min) and db level (45 dB) are all identical.

2 Answers
  • A: Its odd as you really cannot tell the difference in fan speed. Neither by sound or by feel. I am not convinced its even working

Q: Why is it coming on even though humidity is way below setting?

1 Answer
  • A: Our Dehumidifier here in the rainy season runs full time in constant setting as well even when it reads 36%, our thermometer on the wall reads 65% humidity, but now our windows and sky light in the bathroom are all dry. It will pull half full bucket every 12 hours. It is set on Auto and reads 36% when it shuts down. If it is set on continuous it will run constantly.

Q: whats the difference between the Noma dehumidifier with a pump and one without ..

1 Answer
  • A: With the pump you don't have to empty the container when it is full. You connect a hose to the pump and if you have it going to a floor drain. It will empty itself when necessary.
