Do not buy

The first one ran for 2 months in my garage, cleaned and put away it for the summer and the following fall it would run constantly but not dehumidify. I paid to recycle and purchased a new one. but it ran steady and takes two weeks to lower humidity at all. Very poor quality, I think they loose their refigerant.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This dehumidifier controls the humidity as it is set, cycling on and off. After running for a long time it does get a little noisy trying to control the humidity but goes back to normal once it has the humidity under control.

Works well so far. Takes out a lot of water, not too loud and most importantly does NOT heat up the room as other units have in the past.

Machine works well . Very quite and efficient . Downside is the water receptacle is small , flimsy and oddly shaped for pouring out . With a better container I would have given it 5 stars . Judging it harshly but this is an issue as it needs to be emptied 3X a day from the basement .
BTW, the first CT I went to had 1 in stock on-line but not in reality . Typical .

Q: is it quiet?

A: It says it is 45dB, but when I unboxed it and set it up it showed 55dB on a sensitive sound meter. From measuring other appliances and comparing them to their rated dB, I am pretty sure of my measurement. So, it is quiet-ish, but not that quiet.

Q: Why is the Noma 35 pint dehumidifier advertised as 23 pint? What's the difference?

A: According to the product specs, there are new test standards (or possibly a new testing agency). I quote: "23 Pints under new test standard 10 C.F.R Appendix X1, 35 Pints under old test standard CSA C749-07". It's like when they adjust SAT scores to reflect the inherent racial bias.

A: It depends on the humidity of the room. This model can cover up to 500 sq.ft. If the room is very damp, we would suggest to choose a higher capacity dehumidifier.
