      tires

these tires have been on my truck for a few years. I hardly drive it tho. these tires were good when they were new but once they wear about a quarter of the tread off they are absolutely terrible in the snow. there's still lots of tread on them but next winter I'm getting something else. I'm sick of getting stuck when I go fishing. if your not going off the pavement in the winter these tires are just fine and will last a long time. there just no good for going off the main road in the winter unless there new.

Bad wear and poor performance in the cold

I liked the price and the look of these tires but with only 7k on them they are half worn and in the winter below 5 degrees they cannot grip. I know they are not a winter tire specifically but having had many truck tires this is the worst in have used.

Q: How well do the tires handle while towing a holiday trailer

      • A: They handle just fine. I have 275/55/20's on my 2009 Aspen and towed an 8500 lb travel trailer from northern Manitoba to Lincoln City Oregon last September and return without any problems. I did notice that the tread wear seemed a bit high but probably because of the weight I was towing.

Q: Are these tires made in North America?

      • A: These tires are made by Bridgestone/Firestone...So my guess would be yes they are made in North America. Great tires! I just put a 6K trip on these new tires and they were perfect! Hope this helps!

      • A: This tire was tested against several other Light Truck tires on the metric of ride comfort (which includes the reduction of cabin noise). It was the best scoring tire in its comparable set.

Q: How many plies are these tires?

      2 Answers
      • A: Thread: 2 nylon plies, 2 steel plies, 2 polyester plies Sidewall: 2 polyester plies. Rated: "E" (some may be rated "D" ... however I always ask for E rated. The "E" rating is the same as the old "10" ply rating...the load rang is the same due to construction and material advances.

Q: how are these tires in snow/winter conditions?

      2 Answers
      • A: These tires perform very very well in winter conditions. I plow, so the truck is actually out working during the storm and not trying to navigate narrowed streets following. This winter we had allot of ice in Halifax, snow piled up to 4 feet deep ... these tires worked flawlessly on my Dodge Cummins 2500 4x4 plow truck. My tires...this is their second season plowing and they were removed for the summer. I wouldn't hesitate to put a set on a Ford escape and larger vehicle. I haven't been stuck. Normally I don't go around flouting tires...but when I see something decent that is not hyped I take notice. Short answer: Motomaster AT/2 are good gear.

Q: what is the proper tire pressure for these tires when hauling a fifth wheel

      2 Answers
      • A: It is written on the tire. The max PSI is not 40 psi...the actual max PSI is 80 PSI cold....and it IS written right on the tire. I don't know who is doing the answering on some of these questions but there seems to be some very deliberate misinformation put out there. Now, for the 5th wheel answer. I would think 65 to 70 PSI is fine. Tire pressure too low will cause tire to heat up, premature tread wear and above all, when hauling a 5th wheel a well inflated tire will take sway out of the vehicle...and that is why you want the pressure high.

Q: why do these tires deflate in cold weather.  Is it the the valve stems, poor design, I noticed that when I complained and then were fixed  they haven't lost pressure since, but at a cost of the treats.

      1 Answer
      • A: It is normal for drastic temperature changes to cause air pressure to decrease. This is normal across most tires, and as Winter rolls in, it is recommended that you actively check your tire pressure.
