I live in Ottawa. We have already had two snowfalls. I tested this on my walkway, and it is ineffective. I have only tried wet snow, but that’s half the snowfall. It sputtered to throw the snow 8-12 inches. I really wanted this to work as I have to take over shoveling my neighbors walkway as well as mine. I plan to return this shovel.

One Time Wonder

This was exactly the product I'd hoped for when I bought it. I have an uncomplicated sidewalk and live in a place with frequent but generally low volume, dry snowfall. I needed something that would help me get the higher traffic sidewalk clear quicky (before it gets compressed to ice). I have two young kids and was aiming for reducing risk of injury and increasing efficiency. My first use was perfect. Easy to assemble and clear operating instructions, including the battery life notes (no need to fully charge for first use, though I may have fully charged it). Fantastic. Unfortunately that was my only use. I went to use it a second time and it just doesn't turn on. The battery indicator light shows a full battery (the charger agrees), but when I go to start it up it tries but simply doesn't. Even if I can get an exchange or a refund, I still have to pack it up, load it in and out of my car, possibly with those two young kids, wait in line, and then repeat the whole process all over again, at which point it's another waiting game of will THIS one work more than once? Honestly, if it had died after a winter of regular use, that would have been disappointing but I wouldn't have been super upset. All convenience has been obliterated by the $250 single sidewalk clearing I managed to get out of this.

Pleasantly surprised!

I was really surprised at how well this worked. I am using it for clearing off off my backyard deck and pathways for our dog during the winter. It has more power than I expected and it's so simple to use as well as assemble. It really beats shovelling the snow and it even did wet snow without any problem. It's still early in the winter season so I'll have to see how it works with more heavy snowfall but so far so good!

Doesn't work well with wet snow. Just pushes the snow like a shovel. Might be OK with light snow in colder temperatures but haven't tried it yet in those conditions. Thus only a 3 rating.

A: Hello, it's not suggested to use the snow shovel on a gravel driveway. If you need to operate it on or cross gravel drives, walks, and roads, please take care and stay alert for hidden hazards or traffic. As the blade is nonadjustable, it may collect stones and throw them with the snow, resulting in possible damage. Once it hits some objects during usage, please stop the machine and remove the battery, inspect them carefully before restarting.

A: It’s a 20V max battery and charger included. It works with all the new updated max battery tools. I use my lawnmower batteries interchangeable. Look for anything 20V max. It’s the same

A: Battery, that way you don't need to worry about the extension cord. It is cold weather when you are using it, so one less think to worry about. Last winter when I was done using it I plugged the battery in the charger and two days ago the first time I used my blower this winter, I checked the battery it was still fully charged. You need to push the blower slowly but it sure beats shoveling especially at my age, over 80.

A: Hello, Mastercraft snow shovel can be used on a wood or composite deck. But please be careful while operating it on wood deck, the blade is possible to contact the deck, kepp staying alert for hidden hazards or traffic. If the machine strikes a foreign object, please stop the motor, remove the battery pack, thoroughly inspect the snow shovel for any damage, and repair the damage before restarting and operating the snow shovel.
