Really puts out the heat. Battery operated auto light did not work so well after repeated lightings even with new batteries. No smell or soot was noticeable.

We bought this last winter and just in time when we lost power it kept my house warm and we even used it to cook food on the top grill , so we were very comfortable in are home will be telling all my friends were I got it and that it works great.

Not as advertised

It's been 3.5 hours since 0 degree Celsius in my 700 sqft partially insulated garage. Temp has risen 6°. Not much hope of it getting warmer fast enough for me to work on my car. Burning fluid faster than then 12hrs (but I'm at full blast, because I'm still cold. ) Not doing the job, thinking of returning, Probably why it was on sale.

No, I do not recommend this product.

j' ai un radiateur a convection et c' est très facile a utilisé. je l' utilise au chalet durant la chasse pour garder la chaleur a l' intérieur du chalet et aussi durant la nuit. c' est une très bonne chaufferette.

Q: Would this be a safe alternative heat source for an emergency power out situation? It would be for use indoors, in a fairly air tight new home.

A: Yes. I use it for power outages, and have been for two years now. I have a digital CO monitor right beside it and it has never produced a reading, always displaying zero's. I tried to buy bulk K1 Kerosene from a dealer instead of the stuff in the stores to save money. Unfortunately it did not burn as clean or produce as much heat, and it would gum up the wick, so until I find a better source I still buy from the store.

Q: How to light heater I lost the book let when we moved

A: Turn the wick dial counter clockwise all the way,open small door,push igniter until you see a flame then release it,close door,wait about 5 minutes and use the wick control to adjust the flame so that the flame is about a 1/2 inch above the burner and your good to go.Hope this helps.

Q: can you use it in a tent

A: They are used without any problems in tents all over the high Arctic, by Inuit at hunting camps, outpost camps, and tent camps. They are typically very small places! You have to be careful to allow air into the dwelling for combustion, and also to allow combustion products out (leave a window or chimney opening partly uncovered). Secondly, you ABSOLUTELY *MUST* burn straight pure kerosene, not diesel, nor heating fuel (P50), nor Jet B. They stink, and it will be totally unliveable inside.

A: It's not hot enough to FRY things, but it's certainly hot enough to cook by boiling, stewing, or slow-cooking. Use a cast iron pot.
