A: Thank you for your inquiry and patience. Please visit the following link to our website and utilize the 360-degree spin feature. This will allow you to see the knockout at each end on the underside of the register. The knockout is designed to be a pre-determined location for a screw to be inserted if this register was to be used in a ceiling application. Q: How much heat can this handle? I'm thinking of getting one of these for a ceiling application in my basement. The vent it will be attached to is the shortest from the furnace so gets warmer than any of the others. I there a risk that this will melt?

A: The plastic registers made by Imperial can be used in this ceiling application as long as the furnace is natural gas, propane or electric. I would not suggest using a plastic register if the furnace is wood burning and the vent is close to the furnace. We use UL 94 hi-heat resistance polystyrene material, with a softening temperature of 220F. The temperature coming out of the vent from a furnace is much lower then that.
