syphon hose

hose is useless when used in cold temperatures, to many kinks

Crimped hoses ruin an otherwise good product.

Bought this to empty seasonal toys gas tanks. The main hoses are simply friction fit. Too much pressure and outlet can pop off. Which mine did, shooting gas in my face! One of the main issues is the hoses themselves. They are very crimped from being rolled up… it’s very hard to get the crimps out..I would suggest warming them in warm water to soften the material and then work them out. If they crimp up again they can cause the back pressure I experienced or it can slow down the pick up of the inlet… best to not roll them up tight enough to crimp them when storing.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not Worth It

The plastic tubing was hard and and curled. When I finally got the kinks out and started to use it there must have been too much pressure and it came off and splashed everything. It was like something from Temu. More of a dollar store product than a Canadian Tire product.

Worked for 2018 F150 Transmission draining

Worked well to pump out the transmission oil pan on my 2018 10R80. The hose supplied wouldn’t fit into the fill plug port, used 1/2” vinyl clear hose with the end cut at an angle. Pumped new fluid quickly. Did the job I needed done.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is this okay to transfer gasoline?

  • A: Did not work for me. Waste of money. I lost 150 worth of gasoline

Q: Does the intake have to be above the outflow tube?

2 Answers
  • A: No. This works in all positions. It does not siphon well, and hard pumping pressure may blow the tubes off. I used it to transfer fluid into my floor heating system and the tubes would blow off at about 15 psi. Works great as a transfer pump though.

Q: How do you dry the pump so that it doesn't rust? I need to use it to pump water.

2 Answers
  • A: Rust doesn't seem to be an issue. Pull the plunger to its full extension and let it drip/air dry. Keep in mind it takes about 5 minutes to pump 5 gallons of water. Have been using weekly since January to pump 10 gallons. It works fine but but is not effortless.

Q: Can it be used to fill the lower unit gear case of an outboard motor?

1 Answer
  • A: The truth is I had to take the pump back as it was unable to pull oil from my boat motor. Unless I had a defective one it won’t work on oil.

Q: How long would the hose be and what would be the height it would pump from?

1 Answer
  • A: Two hoses with a length of 51" each. I have pumped from 45 gallon drum easily.

Q: 1. What size (diameter are the hoses)? 2. Can the hoses be removed and replaced (with longer lengths)?

1 Answer
  • A: The hoses have a 1/2-inch outer diameter (end-to-end) and a 3/8-inch inner diameter (end-to-end). Although the hoses can be removed from the pump, replacing has not been tested for since this was not part of the original intention of product use. For this reason, replacing hoses is not recommended but, can be done at the users discretion.

Q: What are the hoses made of, they look plastic, will they collapse

1 Answer
  • A: The hoses are plastic and somewhat pliable which I find good as it allows them to bend. I use the pump to bail out my boat and pump out the remaking water in my water tank when I close up the cottage and have never had an issue with the intake pipe collapsing. I guess the suction power of the pump is strong enough to lift the water but not enough to collapse the pipe.

Q: What size is the hose? Will it fit onto a fuel line nipple (ie. 3/8")??

1 Answer
  • A: The Deluxe Pump has (2) red transfer hoses that are each 51 inches in length. Yes, the hose will be able to fit onto a fuel line nipple that is 3/8 inch.
