I was sent a used humidifier

I ordered this an it arrived used and requiring descaling and cleaning. This was disappointing as the item wasn't listed as a used item and even so, the very least they could have done is clean or inspect the item before restocking it.
No, I do not recommend this product.

The item is fairly good. Downside is it uses a ton of water. Filled tank with distilled water to avoid impurities, but costs outweigh benefits.

Q: Why it is sound like boiling water? I just bought this humidifier today, and trying it at home now. However it's keeping some sound like boiling water. It is not quiet at all !! But everyone on the comment wall said it is really quiet. So what's wrong with the sound!

A: I agree, it was quite noisy - especially the gurgling as the tank would drain, would wake me up. When you boil water, which is what this unit does, that's exactly what it sounds like.

A: Even using Brita filtered water, the contamination and cleaning requirement is really bad. Hard to keep clean, and the entire tank can be emptied in one night.

Q: Auto shutoff/Reset After this unit runs out of water and automatically shuts off, is there a 15 minute wait time requirement before I can turn it on again?

A: Nope. It will start right back up when you put the tank back in. Just make sure you turn it off before you take the tank to go fill it and then on after you've put the tank back.

A: I just took some regular Vick's and melted it in the microwave for a few seconds first. It worked fine. You can buy similar liquid types at any pharmacy.

Q: Will using hard water result in white dust? As this unit's not equipped with a filter, and as our municipal water's quite hard, I'm wondering if I should expect some of the white dust about as I'd seen in previous uses of a humidifier?

A: If you have hard water, the unit will need more frequent cleaning. Only ultrasonic humidifiers produce white dust (I avoid them for this reason).

A: No filter required, just be sure to clean the tray and coil housing weekly with a vinegar and water solution. Clean the water tank with a bleach & water solution. NEVER use hard (well) water.

Q: Is this humidifier quiet? Do you sleep with it on in your bedroom overnight? My current humidifier is not loud but does make distracting 'bubble' type noises continuously. I can't sleep with it on.

A: It is normal, just like kettle. Put undiluted white vinegar. Do it daily maintenance. Easier to remove the scales.
