Q: Can the fireplace be used with the glass doors shut?

A: I just installed this unit on my fireplace. The instructions specifically say that the glass doors must be opened when the fireplace is in use. The bifold doors do fold back 180 degrees, which keeps them out of the way.

Q: Will this help much to cut down on drafts when fireplace not in use?

A: Yes it will cut down on drafts quite a bit. It is not, however, completely air tight when shut. For my installation (of this exact product) we installed a lock top damper on the chimney top which eliminated all drafts.

A: width :30" - 37" Height (includes 2" riser bar) 22 1/2" - 29 1/2" Overall dimensions (height includes the 2" riser bar) 37 1/2" W X 30" H

Q: My sister saw this and thought it might fit a door 28.5 X 23.5...for those that have installed it, is it adjustable for a smaller width? Also wondering the manufacturer (thanks!)

A: Unfortunately I not longer have the box, so I cannot say who the manufacturer is. The unit is adaptable to different opening sizes and it states the dimension range on the box. I believe that the range for this unit is 30 to 37" w x 22½ to 29½" h, the same as product #64-2119-6 (black with brass). To fit a smaller width you may have to look into making some custom brackets.

Q: Does it have a screen behind the glass door? If not, how do you suggest keeping the firebrand in the fireplace area?

A: This product does have a screen behind the glass doors, but unlike most door systems that have screens that slide along a track, this one has two swinging screen doors that secure shut with magnets. Great product
