A: Nous utilisons un numéro à deux chiffres qui est estampé dans le métal tout au fond (sous le côté) de la boîte. Les deux chiffres représentent l'année de fabrication. L'extincteur doit être vérifié chaque mois pour s'assurer que l'aiguille jaune reste dans la partie verte. Après cette période, il est possible d'effectuer l'entretien de l'extincteur en cherchant dans les pages jaunes sous le feu pour trouver des entreprises qui effectuent l'entretien et la recharge pour un prix nominal qui varie selon la taille de l'extincteur.

Q: Where can I find the expiration date? All I can find is NO/N E-92705690, D18, Model SRFE-2.5.. I am assuming D18 is 2018?

A: We use a 2 digit number that is stamped into the metal on the very bottom (under side) of the canister. The two digits represent the year of manufacturing. From that date the extinguisher has a 6 year life span and should be checked on a monthly basis that the yellow needle remains in the green section. It can be serviced after that time by looking in the yellow pages under fire for companies that do servicing and recharging for a nominal fee that varies with each extinguisher size. This one would be approximately $25 for that 6 year service time frame

A: The Garrison 1A10BC fire extinguisher is rechargeable. To find a recharge location in your particular area, please check your yellow pages, under "Fire" for a recharge/service location. These companies are independent businesses that will be certified UL/ULC approved (the governing body for fire extinguisher regulations). Extinguishers must be serviced at one of these locations after any use or after 6 years from the date stamp, which is located on the very bottom of each extinguisher cylinder. The 2 digit number is the year of manufacture. Extinguishers need to be serviced after 6 years or replaced.

Q: What do the numbers mean in the electrical, liquid, & wood/paper ratings? Is it the higher or lower number that makes a better fire extinguisher? Does the manufacturer offer a flush mount insert to hang the extinguisher within a 2x4 wall cavity?

A: Hi Sparky The numbers in front of the "A or B" reflect the size of fire that the extinguisher will be able to handle. 1A is approximately a 19" X 19" X 19" cubic size of wood 2X2's that are set on fire. The flames of this fire will be approximately 20 feet into the air. A 2A uses 25" X 25" X 25" of 2X2's. A 5B is a fire size of 12.5 square feet fire of burning liquid A 10B is a fire size of 25 square feet. Larger numbers will look after larger fires. The mounting brackets that come with the extinguishers are the only options available.

Q: How can I find the manufacturing date on the product? The product has 6 year manufacturer warranty from its manufacturing date. I cannot find the manufacturing date on the product although the manual suggests on the bottom of the tank. I can only see a green stick with D.

A: The manufacture date is located on the bottom of the shell and is a two digit number that is stamped into the metal. It is very important to retain your receipt from Canadian Tire, as with it, they will be able to replace your extinguisher at the store, should you have a warranty issue within the 6 year time period.
