Q: Can you wire it so you have a separate switch for the light and one for the fan?

A: The fan just has two separate "hot" wires, one for the motor and one for the light. If you can run these to two separate switches (using most simply a 14/3 from switch to light box) then it's easy. Not usually easy to run wire behind finished wall though unless you have easy access or it's new construction/reno.

Q: Can this fan be mounted as a "hugger" style?? There is no mention of this option. Cheers.

A: Yes you can; I did. In hugger mount the distance from ceiling to the highest point of the blade is 5 inches, and to the tip of the shade is 12 inches. Hope this helps. Bonus answer: there's a handy switch on the collar holding the shade to easily reverse the air flow ;)

A: I have this fan in a 9 x 9 room and it doesen’t provide a verry powerful air flow. I think it’s not the best fan for your need.

Q: Will the light turn on and off from two different switches (at top and bottom of stairwell)? I must be able to continue to use the two off and on switches which control what is currently just a light above the stairs.

A: As long as you leave the main switch on the fan in the on position(pull chain ) it will work. I use a smart bulb in mine and can turn it on and off from an app or by voice. You would have to set the fan to whatever speed you want or leae the fan off and turn the fan on and off as required manually.

A: Assuming that your fan is assembled correctly, then something is slightly bent, causing an imbalance. I recommend exchanging it for a new unit.
