1.Being able to untwist/twist to extend & tighten rod, is a nice improvement over spring-loaded rods.
2.Coating should remain fresh & new-looking, over the bare metal ones, as well as not requiring a plastic liner, to colour-code, or make the curtain move smoothly.
3.Lighter in weight, no spring to rust/ not function properly, or become noisy with potential rust.

Not worth buying

Price was right but this thing will NOT stay up once the shower curtain is weighing it down. It has fallen several times already. It’s now sitting at the bottom of my tub while I decide if I want to try a 4th time.

Q: is this product spring loaded?

A: No, this does not use a spring for tension. This has a plastic inner rod that when extended will tighten between the 2 walls. A spring rod gets extended past the walls and then you compress it to fit between the walls. Spring rods have a tendency to collapse because of the tension.
