Use Primer Before You Topcoat

I always like to use primer before topcoating bare metal. This product is made for the job of engine painting. I went back to the store to buy some after I read the instructions on the dupli-color engine enamel. It sprays out fine and dries quickly.

Q: Can this high heat primer be used on aluminum engine parts as it is not a self etching primer?

A: Thanks for taking the time to ask a question. Engine Enamel Primer/Paint are best for painting an Aluminum engine parts. I'd suggest cleaning/de-greasing the engine parts, sanding to dull the finish, cleaning again, and Priming. We don't make a high heat Self Etching Primer, the existing formula will resist temperatures up to 200 degrees.
