Q: Hello there, I wanted to know if the bottom horizontal plate is needed for single hole installation or is that only to cover up a 3 hole setup?

A: Good morning jay_p80 and thank you for your question. The Sawyer single handle faucet can be used with an escutcheon plate or as a stand alone. Typically an escutcheon plate would be used to cover up other holes if needed. Best Regards
