Not weather-resistant

Sensor unit was ruined after a short period of time as it is not weather-resistant as described. There is no gasket to seal the unit from rain and sprinkler water. Prior to water damage the unit worked as described. Sensor was around 100m from base.

Q: Just wondering if this system operates on batteries and what size? Is the base unit battery and DC?

A: The motion sensor takes 4 AA Alkaline batteries (Lithium batteries are recommended for colder environmnets). The base station also takes an optional 4 AA Alkaline batteries in case of power failure.
