Q: How does one know if the surge protection has been used or is no longer working? I see no indicator...

A: As surge protection is a single-use function, when the indicator light, it means the function is working; when the indicator is off, it means the function protected once and is not available any more. This product can still be used as a normal power bar, but no surge protection.

A: The image currently on this product does say "Surge Protector" and is seemingly rated for 312 joules - so it seems like it does have protection.
