Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position Performance Tire For Passenger & CUV

I just ordered my 2nd set of S-04's for my 2002 IS300 Lexus. I have 18" Volk Racing Wheels and the rears (255/40-18') lasted me about 20,000 miles of highway and city driving. The fronts last me about 25,000 miles. For the performance, they offer great mileage, and pretty decent traction in the rare event that it rains here in Southern California. I was considering putting the RE-71R's on the back, but I didn't think the softer rubber would be worth the decreased mileage I'd get out of them, especially since I don't autocross my car.... Although I do prefer the look of the tread pattern of the 71R's over the S-04's ;) Looking forward to getting my rears in the mail next week and hopefully another trouble-free 20,000+ miles of spirited driving.

Originally, I purchased these tires for my 2018 Golf GTI. They made night & day difference for the way that car performed! It came standard with Pierlli all season's, which were garbage. These Potenza's are amazing, so much better grip, both wet and dry. Even when using Launch control (which was wheel spin city with the stock tires), I barely got any wheel spin.They were also much quieter and rode a lot smoother than the stock tires. Unfortunately, my GTI was recently totaled in an accident. Since then, I've purchased a 2019 Golf R. The Golf R comes standard with Continental contisportcontact summer tires on it. They are OK, I wouldn't call them bad, but also not great. Since the golf R is AWD, wheel spin isn't a problem. But still, I decided to replace the stock tires and purchase a set of Potenza's for it, and once again, a positive difference! My biggest complaint with the conti's is that under hard braking, they would lose traction and I would feel like I was driving on ice. Very scary when driving at highway speeds, and hard braking combined with a lane change is required. This doesn't happen with the Potenza's, my car brakes the way it should, and the tires provide constant grip. Going through winding roads is now joyful instead of scary, very confidence inspiring. These Potenza's are also, once again, much quieter and ride much smoother than the conti's did. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to take the performance of their car to the next level! I can't comment on tread life, since I haven't had them very long, but based on the reviews i've seen, they're pretty good for summer performance tires.

I have had the absolute worst experience with not 1 but 2 sets of theses. Bought them from a local store at the recommendation of the manager in July. MAYBE 7k miles later I got a flat from a nail and when I brought it back to the store for repair I was told that BOTH my tires were bald and needed replacement in addition to being out of alignment (which was done by them when installed). I was told that based on wear I was accelerating too fast so I paid $300 to get them replaced as the nail could not be fix. I am now 2 months later and with no aggressive driving on the new set and about to go back to the store with another nail and uneven wear on the passenger side tire because there is yet again no tread on my tires in hope that they rectify this as these tires should not need replacement.

Barely drove 24k and it's time for a new set of tires. Something about the tread pattern makes the tires feel like they are running in a track...or constantly looking for one. The alignment is perfect and the car still wants to wander instead of hold straight. Do not recommend this tire.

I run with a group of guys who love to chase mountain curves. I also occasionally make weekend trips with my wife to mountain B&Bs so I didn't want to be riding on a skateboard in the summer downpours. This are the best tires I've ever found for all summer conditions. They'll hang with the guys on 71s and on wet roads the change is hardly noticeable. These will be my choice as long as they are available.
