great little sander for the homeowner

I purchased this belt sander to sand a hardwood floor for one of my customers. Knowing it wasn't a contractor grade sander I didn't expect it to perform quite as well as it did. Since then I have also used it to sand a hardwood kitchen table with excellent results. The pros: lightweight, small wheel at the front helps to get into tight areas, flip up front guard is useful for various applications, doesn't get hot like my old sander, The cons: the cord is cheap plastic so it gets stiff and prone to cracking in the cold, the dust collection systems only catches about 60% of the dust and fills up really fast due to its small capacity, no ball bearings in the front and rear pulleys (wheels) so its not good to run it for a long time or for heavy use. Although it did do quite well sanding the floor. Overall this is a good belt sander for occasional use. Not being a heavy belt sander user, this one should last me a few years. For the price of this item it may still be worth purchasing, as opposed to a $300 sander, just to see how many years you can get out of it. From my experience sometimes more expensive is not always better . My first reciprocating saw was a cheap Jobmate and it lasted 5 years of at times heavy usage. So I don't mind trying cheaper tools if they do the job I need them to do.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Working out of town, Bank Vault door sticking shut. Found a Canadian Tire in town and bought this sander, 60 grit roll and a dust mask. 30 minutes of sanding solid steel and my job is done. This sander tracks well once adjusted and the drum style filter caught most of the particulate. The slim nose really helped the corners, nice design overall, will have to see how long this unit will work hard.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 1 of 1 Question

Q: Is this with "Cloth Dust Bag"? I read some reviews from Amazon complaining the " Cloth Dust Bag" not working properly.

    1 Answer
    • A: The current version of the CYDS321 “Dragster belt sander comes with a hard canister and cyclonic dust collection. Amazon may have misinterpreted the model number and compared the DS321 which has the bag system.
