Great results, but be prepared for the smell.

This is a real user here, just willing to help my fellow DIYers: 1. SMELL: The smell is crazy strong. I think it is worth it, but make sure you use on a time of the year where you can leave the windows open. Also make sure you paint in the morning, so that when you go to bed the smell isn't that bad. It will take a full day then it is gone. If you are doing this inside, you are going to need a good VOC mask. I painted a small area in the closed space under the stairs in late October (I know...) , and the smell lasted a full day. The next day it was gone. 2. APPLICATION TEMPERATURE: Read the instructions about optimal temperatures on the can, This is a spring, summer, early fall paint. It might not work properly on colder temperatures and you will regret having to deal with the smell in a closed house, trust me. 3. TOOLS: This is an oil paint and you won't wash it out with water. In my opinion it is better to use cheap brushes and throw them away in the end. I painted directly from the bucket to avoid having to throw away a tray. I can't speak for the durability yet, but so far it looks really good and exactly what I was looking for. I saw other basements painted with it that looked like new after many years. I noticed some reviews here are from the Acrylic version of the paint, which is a completely different product. Make sure you buy the right one.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: is this paint a light grey or a dark grey? also could you sprinkle decorative chips. Does it need a primer coat first. Applying this on concrete.

  • A: Some answers here say its(latex) dark and some say its light. Can the store add a "tint" to make it darker or cud i pour in a tiny bit of black latex to make a darkwr grey for concrete?

Q: Hello , can anybody let me know how much of this product do I need to cover 250 square feet ? , and if this will be good to paint a deck ?

3 Answers
  • A: hi there Miguel. One gallon covers +/- 600 ft2, since it’s the oil-based one. We would not recommend this paint for decks, as it is an oil-based paint; which means longer drying time, glossy surface (slippery when wet), etc. For decks, we would recommend the Armor Coat Porch and Floor but the 100% Acrylic formula, satin finish. Best suited for this type of project, thank you.

Q: how long after applying Armour Coat acrylic latex will it not be damaged by rain

2 Answers
  • A: Not sure this answer is going to help but --- I use this paint on the vertical blocks on the foundation of my house. This means the water would not lay on the painted surface if it rained, so I am not sure how it would react if it rained and the paint was on a flat surface. I try to make sure there is no rain in the forecast for a day or so after I paint just to make sure and I have so far never had a problem with this product.

  • A: Il n'est pas nécessaire d'utiliser un apprêt. Veillez à poncer la surface avant d'appliquer le produit. Il ne peut pas non plus être appliqué sur une surface à base d'huile.
