Good to see a mastic now secures a wet heavy filter element to its frame. Hopefully that upgrade will prevent a heavy wet filter in use from falling out of its frame well before its replacement time.

We're using these wicks in a new Essick humidifier and they are not working well. Same water we've always used, same location in the house, but we can't get the humidity above 25% and it often falls below 20%. Very disappointing.

Humidifier wicks

I have been using your humidifier and the wicks for many years and have always been quite satisfied. The wicks this year started coming unglued half way through the heating season, Fortunately, I was able to hold them together with rubber bands and make it through the season. Hopefully, the ones I just bought were made a little better.

Q: How often to replace 1040 wicks? Instrux say to reuse "if they are in good shape" and "throw away if it is time to replace them." Mine seem to be OK but they always fall out of the frames when I take them out to check or clean the unit.

A: Thank you for your question. The wick is still good as long as it is absorbing water all the way to the top. Our wicks are designed to last anywhere from 30 to 90 days, depending on the water quality.
