Excellent mixer, great investment

Awesome mixer. Easy to assemble and use. It’s a little unstable to move around, but easily mixes two bags of concrete and I’m sure could handle three. I plan to sell it when I’m finished the project. They hold their value and are cheaper to buy than rent, if you use them more than twice.

Worth the money for a DYI

Good little unit, only drawback is that it holds 2 bags of concrete mix at a time. If you have a big job plan for it to take longer.

Q: Could you pour a shed slab with this mixer My shed is to be positioned sufficiently far away from the road that a truck of readymix is not going to work. Would approx seventy-five 66lb bags of concrete be too much for this mixer, has anyone poured a 4" shed slab using this item. Thanks

  • A: It can be done! You may need a strong back and a weak mind, or have someone else helping, but I did it. I am 60. You will sleep well, ache for two days, and be proud of your slab. You must be organized and well set up, so you don’t have delays while mixing. Get a barrel or plastic garbage can for water so you aren’t waiting for a hose to mix, keep the barrel full and decant water into a smaller bucket as you need it to mix. Have your sacks of concrete at hand. Split them in two to load in half-sacks. I made a three foot wire with a handle on each end, and use it to help cut the bags. Lay the wire down, lay a full sack on top, use a shovel to cut the top of the sack, pull the wire through from the bottom, and you get a clean cut into half-sacks. Way easier for us old guys to lift. Don’t drink beer until finished, you will lose all motivation, but do stay hydrated. Watch the weather and don’t pour if rain is forecast. Count the cleanup time into your schedule. Start early in the day, when it is cooler. Pour concrete into the forms while the next load mixes. Get organized the day before, and try to avoid pouring over two days unless you can form a control joint.  Your wife will think you are a genuine hero!

Q: will a yard works 2 wheel wheelbarrel fit under pour spout

  • A: Plan on having to raise the mixer on blocks. I have a standard garden variety plastic wheelbarrow, it is too high to comfortably discharge the mixer. You just have to plan in advance.

  • A: I would say yes though i would line the drum with some type of rubber or conveyor belt material & have the mixing paddles beefed up depending o the size of rocks you would want to tumble.
