    Noisy

I bought one at the store with a drawer and the bonus electrical and USB outlets which was a nice surprise. The heat that it produces is warmer than what comes out from our furnace vents. My only issue is that the fan seems to be making more noise than it should. I will go back to the store to exchange it for one that makes less noise - I hope.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Curious....

I just purchased this heater, and when the temperature is changing (turning up) it does not seem to change color or run faster. I had the smaller heater by Garrison and when you turned up the temperature you could see the color turning into a brighter red as it got hotter. How is everyone else's? I'm thinking this one might not be working to it's full potential?

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Efficient

This heater is awesome. I have a rancher and it heats the whole house. The heat is what they say, even. My hydro bill is down by 30%. It isn't instant but it is an even warmth. I am sold!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    reasonable purchase

I bought this product on sale. I bought as additional heat for my motorhome. It heats reasonably the space if not on sale it is a little pricey but the quartz heating element is what you are paying for. The added drawer is a bonus now I have a place to put my remotes and know where to find them instead of looking around for them. Quality is good.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Can I use this heater in a garage workshop? Or would it be dangerous if I am woodworking?

    • A: Yes you can use it in a workshop, however I would recommend a more reasonably priced heater with the same output, the max heater you can get for 120v outlet is 1500 watts.

Q: I have a Garrison 1500 W 043-5998-4. It will run for 10 min. then shut off. I have set my heater in the room and set the temperature on the heater and 10 mins later it shuts off. No it is not at the temperature i have set it at, so why is it still shutting off? Is there a way i can reset it?

    1 Answer
    • A: First the easiest thing, you should turn up the thermostat to make sure it is set higher than the current room temp. If it is set at about the same level as the room temp, it will quickly achieve the new temp and shut off. If that doesn’t work, then the unit may be overheating and the overheat sensor is causing the unit to shut-off after 10 minutes. A possible reason is that the unit may be too close to a wall or other obstruction which is restricting air flow. Additionally, the air filter at the back of the unit may be dirty and restricting air flow. Both of these things should be checked. If none of those are the issue, then there may be something wrong with the unit. First, you can check to make sure the fan is running while the unit is on. If there is no airflow coming out of the unit, and no sound coming from the fan, then the fan is not working and the unit should be exchanged. If none of those things are causing the issue, then it may be a faulty overheat sensor, and the unit should be exchanged.

Q: Is an infrared heater effective in a dry climate? Most of the reviews for this product come from coastal areas, and some mention the need for humidity. Is this heater effective in dry areas like the prairies? I don't have a humidifier in my house.

    1 Answer
    • A: This heater provides excellent localized heating solution in both humid and dry conditions. Humidity level does not affect the actual temperature of a room. However, it does affect how one feels. For example on a hot summer day of 30C with relative humidity of 80% is uncomfortable compared to a 30C day and 40% humidity. In the winter when humidity is much lower ( 10 to 20% level) it helps to feel more comfortable with humidifier in use.
