STEP 1

Shut off water supply.

Locate the two shut-off valves for the faucet and turn off the water supply. If you don’t have individual shut off valves, take this opportunity to install some. You also need to turn off the supply valves to the hot water heater. If your house is older, you may need to shut off the main water supply, as well. Turn on the taps to release any pressure.

STEP 2

Detach the water lines.

Place a small bucket underneath the water lines and use a wrench to detach them.

STEP 3

Remove the old hardware.

Remove the hardware holding the faucet in place with a basin wrench. Add a lubricant to loosen stubborn nuts, if required.

STEP 4

Take out the old faucet.

Gently lift the old faucet and faucet plate.

STEP 5

Assemble the new faucet.

Assemble your new faucet based on the manufacturer’s instructions.

STEP 6

Put on the new plate.

Clean the surface around the mounting holes and slide the plate over the supply lines according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

STEP 7

Put in the new faucet and attach water lines.

Insert the new faucet through the mounting holes on the sink and secure with the mounting nuts, turning them finger tight.

STEP 8

Attach to shut-off valves.

Attach the supply lines to the corresponding shut-off valves. Turn them hand tight and then add a quarter turn with a faucet wrench.

STEP 9

Turn water back on.

Put a bucket underneath the lines, open the shut-off valves to turn the water on, and remember to turn on your water heater.

STEP 10

Turn on new faucet.

Turn on your new faucet and let it run for at least 30 seconds before using.

Check the function of your new kitchen faucet. Have a look at the connections to ensure there are no leaks. If any leaking is occurring, tighten the connections another quarter turn.
